Thought I'd just make a thread for it.

Garrisons

Build your own base on Draenor, WoW version of Housing.
Your friends can come and see it, trade resources.
Collect followers and send them on missions. Name them!
Customize your base. Pick the zone and buildings
Offline progression (days to weeks)
Integrated into the world, no loading screens.
Allows you to get epic gear, your own land, limited access to professions you don't have.
You can build a mine in your base and go and mine, or send followers to go mine for you.
Your garrison can be expanded over three tiers. Each expansion gives you more plots of land.
You can move your garrison later.
Collect trophies and build monuments. Access them by completing achievements. Mount a rare spawn's head in your Town Hall.
Buildings have unique bonuses, such as reducing the recovery time for your followers after a mission or a free resurrection in the world once a day. These can be upgraded and customized with specializations after three tiers of upgrades. This is like talents for your building.
The Inn lets you find new followers every day. It comes with a kitchen that has a cooking NPC. The specializations let you pick Tank, DPS, or Healer followers.
There are three tiers of art for every building, inside and outside change with each upgrade.
Alliance and Horde get unique art for buildings.
Many ways to collect followers, bribe or recruit them.
Followers level up by doing missions. Even after the level cap, followers can increase their item level.
Followers have quality or rarity and can be customized and named.
Send them on Raids, Dungeons, and Quests. Matching up followers and their traits with missions is almost a minigame.
There are also specialized missions, which are unlocked by owning certain buildings. These have bonuses that are unique.

Oh my gosh her name is Oprah. Also, I'm REALLY hoping you can choose the style of the buildings as well and it's not just "horde" and "alliance" buildings. Like... I want to dump blood elf buildings all over Draenor, not gonna lie.

It said it was Horde and Ally style buildings.

So... our characters will be playing an mmo themselves? Inception!

Seriously, I sooo love it, although I was hoping for a kind of a guildhall.

In this little commentary thing they said they are not working on teh dance studio, But did anyone notice in the garrison screenshot it has dance studio on it?

You mean... they are not working on a dance studio = they've already completed it?

Its right on there, and also at the bottom I see "storehouse" so maybe we get a dance studio along with an extra bank like thing for our garrison.

I can dump so many hours on this...and for the dance thing...

Looks like they're pulling a little from SWTOR's companion/ship/crafting system. I'm kinda curious what made them finally decide to give player housing when they've spent so long denying it.

They weren't denying it as it is, they just didn't want it to be just your own, personal, customisable inn, but a place you go to to do something. Like with the farm - it serves a purpose of gathering mats.

I'm really happy they've mentioned that you'll be able to invite friends to your garrizon, both for bragging rights and hanging out together I hope it won't get scratched.

I'm really am curious if this is going to be per character or account bound per faction-such as will my hunter have her own base and my shaman another, or will all my alliance toons have their own base and my horde toons their own?

I play my hunter and my shaman equally, and I've been leveling a shadow priest that I've all but fallen in love with. I am worried that this is going to be ridiculously grind-y if you have to do it on each of your characters.

They already answered that right now it's per character.

As some buildings will give you out-of-garrizon bonuses, it makes sense for it to be per-character. Different bonuses from different bonuses may be useful for diff char/alts.

All I can say is wow, just WoW Can't wait...

I'm pretty sure I remember them saying that once you unlock certain things, they will be cheaper for alts. Kind of like how getting to Revered in Pandaria lets you buy the widget that makes the grind a lot faster for alts. I think I got serpent riding in about a week after I did it the long way once. Five days?

I might be alone in this, but I'm not all that crazy about the RL references to celebrities and such. I kinda prefer that WoW stuck with WoW stuff, but that's just me. The overall idea does sound pretty interesting, though.

Edit: nvm, I just saw the part where it said you name them. So, mine don't have to be named something silly. Haha, my bad!

this reminds me of an expansion spoof video I saw years ago were you bought a game were you control a player controlling a player playing world of warcraft xD
lots of cool stuff here though.
