Mounts

Iron Chimaera (New) Summons and dismisses an Iron Chimera. This mount changes depending on your Riding skill and location. Account wide. 1.5 sec cast.

Yep, Chimera mount. Sounds like maybe a collector's edition mount?

Whatever it is,

It seems very early to add the CE mount to the database, but maybe it is!

No model yet, but at least we have a good idea of what it will look like from that trailer.

The three biggest assumptions I've seen people have is:

1. Anniversary gift (personally I find this unlikely, though I hope we get something)
2. Pre-WoD event reward
3. WoD Collector's edition reward. (A mount for it isn't unlikely considering we got one for MoP, but as Wain said it seems kind of early for that)

The Fey Dragon mount was already confirmed to be the next blizzard store mount... For a Make-a-wish fundraiser. So I highly doubt this guy is one as well. (Though I'm wondering if that Saint Bernard is part of the "pack" they're offering. Yeah totally off topic, but oh well. xD)

EDIT: There's a brief glimpse of a chimaera looking mount at around 3:20 in this video... looks neat from the few seconds you see it. /excited

Um! But on more subject... I'm not quite sure witht he talk of chimaera mounts in WoD I assume it will have something to do with it...... I really hope there is another collectors edition mount. :O Would be pretty cool if that was it.

Yep, I was aware about the Fey bundle for the upcoming Charity to be placed on the Blizzard store.

The only reason I mentioned it was due to The Heart of the Aspects. It's design and theme was that from Dragonsoul. It was also a brand new mount model (which many thought had an oriental tang to it /coffMOPcoff.) Weather or not blizzard originally planned for this mount to be a drop from DS or not we will never know, but it ended up on the store none the less, completely removed from its context in which was pretty relevant and obvious at the time.

The Iron Chimaera, hints very similar to the same setup, it's a new mount model, it looks to have some current "lore" attached to it due to the "Iron Horde" upcoming, and lastly, they know people will buy it.

So far some of the most unique/highly detailed/ highly desired mounts made in recent years ,have ended up on the store or required real money outlay.

No you're right, but with them already confirming that the Fey dragon would be the next Blizz store mount, doesn't it seem a bit odd to have yet another store mount in the database already? I know that the fey dragon showed up awhile ago though and is just now getting a "source", so the chimera definitely could end up being a store mount months down the road... but as I mentioned it just seems a bit odd/unlikely?

Speaking of the fey dragon, I wonder what that stormcrow will be used for - both had shown up at around the same time.

Either way, I guess we'll just have to wait (im)patiently for more info.

I guess it's possible the Chimaera is a long way off and they just wanted to add the name now because they're too excited by it and wanted to tease us

If the mount is as cool as that small and blurry video shot suggested then they have a right to be excited.

OMG Lupen, I've been waiting for this one for soooo long. In fact I have a toon Named, styled/mogged and themed for when I can get my little mitts on it! I think it's one of the 1st flying bird mounts in WOW that’s not an animal hybrid or some kind of phoenix and or it's model. I've wanted an owl or eagle or crow or something like that mount for sooo long.

The Iron Chimera could also end up being a boss drop or an achievement reward-- or maybe even a faction mount (one of perhaps a few to many colors like wyverns/gryphons or could be set up more similarly to domination point)

Well, we now know it's not a 9th anniversary gift.

We got the same token as last year that increases exp/rep by 9%. That's 1% less than we get every month with the DMF :/ And 9% is such an odd, non-rounded number that it feels like it was devised to precision by a bean-counter.

Hehe, I know I shouldn't sound ungrateful, but it's a bit like receiving a gift voucher for $2.47 or something.

You acted surprised by this? They haven't even bothered to give out mini-pets anymore, nevermind they never had mounts. I doubt we'll ever get anything else for the anniversary.

Yeah it sucks. LOTRO gives out new mounts and cosmetic gear along with other things on it's anniversaries. They also have 1 or 2 new mounts available for each seasonal festival every year that are easily obtained through doing quests to acquire the necessary amount of festival tokens. That's like 8-10 free new mounts every year.

Having said that, I do really want that Chimera mount. I hope it's available through my regular play and doesn't require PvP or heroic raiding.

They just added it to the 5.4.2 PTR!

Ok, that thing is pretty sweet looking!!! And it seems to have a wide range of movements!

Oooooohhhh yeeeaaaahhhh I'll be throwing whatever it takes at the screen to get that baby *whistles* That thing is just astounding. I love every bit of it. I think some of the animations are mislabeled though, I had some funky issues trying to see some of its various animations in the drop box (doing something other than it shoulda been)
