Three Tames and a Dilemma

Hello! So my troll hunter Ashiena hit level 60 last night, and I was SO excited to be able to get the special BM pets I have always wanted. I had Mazzy (Mazzranache), Mali (Humar), Nukk (red raptor and first pet), and Evie (purple raptor).

The plan was to abandon Evie and then go tame a silithid and a purple frostsabre. I didn’t have any fp close to either Winterspring or Silithus haha. So I flew to Tanaris and was running through Un’goro when I suddenly felt the need for a Devilsaur!

I found one after not very long, a white one.. tried to kill it as a test.. that didn’t work. My weapon skill was very low and he murdered me. Of course I am a total noob and forgot about feign death haha. So I go hunting for another, this time a brown one, who I hoped would be my new companion.

I find one, and I try to tame but fail miserably and die. This is my first time trying to tame something my level and relatively difficult. I’m running back to my body when a shaman resurrects me! I tell them thanks very much and that I was trying to tame a devilsaur, and they offer to help me by healing, which is awesome!

So those devilsaurs move friggin fast for such big monsters, but we manage to find him again. Two failed attempts result in our dealths, and he kept fearing at the very last second. So I think.. okay.. breath.. I can do this. We ready, I go in, frost trap, tame. I have to do this multiple times in one fight because he keeps fearing me at the last second. But the shaman keeps us both alive, and I keep frost traping him and trying to name. On the fourth try in one fight.. taming… taming… at the very last second, he opens his mouth, is about to roar-

AND HE’S MINE!

I was shaking so hard, because I thought I would never be able to do it. My first hard tame, and I’m in love with my Doof the devilsaur! Unfortunately I had to abandon Nukk to make room in my stables for Doof, but I’m sure Nukk is happy at my mage’s raptor farm. :D

I stable Doof, run and grab a yellow silithid, very easy tame. She still needs a name! Then I run from Barrens, through Ashenvale, through Felwood all the way to Winterspring and get Shiboo, my gorgeous pride watcher frostsabre. My stable is a very happy and colourful place. 

But now I’m in a dilemma. I’m going to be soloing, so I need a tenacity pet… which I don’t have. I decided with a tear to abandon Mazzy, which was harder than abandoning Nukk since she was very dear to my heart. I decided on an armored boar from RFK. I tried all three colours and nothing clicked. Then I tried a plagued swine since they are awesome, but so far same reaction.

So my dilemma: which tenacity pet should I choose? I’m more into looks and colours than anything... but I can’t choose one that seems to fit my character! All the pets I love are cunning or ferocity. So any ideas would be welcome, I’m open to everything 

Thanks for reading, and sorry for the wall of text! Screenies of my character and pets are underneath :D

My personal favorite tenacity and the only one I really click with other that the brown RFK boar, is the rhino. Which, unfortunately is 7 levels beyond your reach right now!

How about a warp stalker? Those are pretty colorful.

I was going to same as Akyo. I went all the way to level 80 before taming my first tenacity. Tenacities make it easier to take on hard mobs like elites or, particularly in the case of bears and crocolisks, groups of mobs, but they're by no means necessary for leveling.

Grats on the tame, that sounds like quite an experience! His eyes match your troll, by the way. Quite stunning eyes he has. :)

Thank you guys :)

It's nice to know that I don't HAVE to level with a tenacity pet.. I love my babies, I really hated abandoning Mazzy. I may try a few more tenacitys (the ones you guys suggested) but if they don't click then I will retame her.

I do like the rhinos though.. too bad they are so far away!

It's not that bad... Since you're 60 now, it's only another 7 levels for this guy. It'll fly by, Outlands is a blast! :)

I ran into one of these guys while looking at silithids, and was surprised by how much personality they seem to have. They tilt their head and look about, seeming quite intelligent for a so-called worm! Maybe one will click with you; there's a ton of colors and NOBODY seems to have any as pets, on my realm at least.

I totally recommend a worm. :D Just loved levelling with one through Northrend, they're awesome little tanks. And I really love the old world skins too, they have tons of personality.

I was just about to suggest a worm, the others beat me to it. There are so many colors and hardly anyone has one. Plus, their ability is nice for both your pet and you (-20% armor is nothing to sneeze at!). Try it out, you never know what you'll like! :D

I to say the worm!!! I haven't had one yet myself but they get great reviews.

So! I decided to go with a worm guys! I wasn't sure how it was going to work out, because worms weren't ever on my list of potential pets, besides maybe the ghostly northrend jormunger.

I had killed Grubthor a few times on my main when I was farming Cencirc rep, and I decided that he was the wormie for Ashiena. I liked the blue model too, but I don't want another grey pet (since it colour changes) because I have Mali who is black. I'm weird like that.

So I ran all the way to Silithus on Ash, and BAM he was up and running at the second spawn point I checked. Tame tame tame, mine! You guys are right, he has such a personality. I just need to think of a name now!

Oh, and I need to release Thorn my yellow silithid and grab another colour, or maybe retame Mazzy, since I don't want two yellow pets :P

Screenies below, and thank you for the suggestions! I found that I clicked with my wormie right away :)

Well, that pic is a little deceiving, since he is in front of her. :) But yeah, he's giant, at least as tall as Doof my devilsaur, if not taller. :D

I'd say that if you want your Mazzy back, get him/her back - you don't neccisarilly need a tanacity pet to level. :)

But, if you go with a tanacity pet, I'd say go with a bear/crockolisk/gorilla (biased on the gorillas though, and to be honest, their Pummel ability isn't that usefull at all)

Edit: D'oh! A little late it seems....

Hehe, a late reply is still a good one. :)

I love silithids but now I am thinking about abandoning mine to get Mazzy back, or the ghost sabre. xD Jeez, more stable slots can not come soon enough..

I'd have to say, you are going through the right process, trying what you like, and see what really fits.

The ultimate tenacity pets are crocs or bears, but, what I've found looking at them recently is that nothing there stands out. Kind of a shame.

If I were leveling, I'd probably go with a boar.
