Dunno the old addage of "better safe than sorry" comes to mind. Although I have no experience with snow and ice at airports, we sometimes get stranded when runways get too hot over here :lol:

Where my fiance works (Newman) the ground temp is close to 75c and one time the runway did melt...

-22 is something Winnipeg deals with on a regular basis and they don't shut down the Airport. See also the link below.

Holy crap they called in the army haha!

Yeah I did notice one of those cities was colder than Toronto! I once saw an air crash investigation show about a plane of american soilders that crashed in canada because the wings got iced up before take off, since seeing that i'd be shit scared to fly in snow!
