Really, I don't absolutely need more than five pets. Heck, as long as I've got a DPS pet, a Tank pet, a nice pet for around town, ect. I'm good.
Of course, that's need. What I want is an entirely different matter. For example, do I need all of the spirit beasts? Certainly not, but I'd sure love to have them!
When the new stable slots come out I might give camping for an SB a try, tame a couple more exotics, and I will also most likely want to try out any new pet skins, families, and models.

Pretty much what Kamalia said. I don't NEED that many pets, but I'd certainly love them. Like how I don't need that many mounts, but I have 'em.

/wants random hunter pet add on now...

Well you might not need that many pets, but on several hunters I get that itch, that burn, that urge to drop everything, haul out to the remotest part of the world and either camp for a rare, hunt down a specific skin or just find a skin that I really like. The only problem? These hunters already have full stables. And it's not that I get bored and tired, it's just this...

Calling. I just want it. So that's why I'm hoping the pet stable changes happen, because mean while I have one hunter who has 5 pets she'll never abandon, one hunter who has 5 she can't abandon, wether I want to or not, no matter the hunter I still get the desire to tame something.

It's certainly a thin line to walk between having enough pets, and having so many that they cease to feel meaningful or special.

I don't think I'd like having 25+ stable slots as it would become difficult to have that strong bond with each and every one of them. At the same time I think we can still justify more slots than we currently have.

Depending of course on just how many extra spaces we get, my plans to tame or retame are:

I'm praying this skin becomes tameable again. :'( Never have I wanted a pet so badly and missed taming her by a short amount of time before she was retired.

Damn cat's been teasing me for ages, if I have space I'll get her permanently.

These lava tarantulas are absolutely adorable, I would definitley consider getting one if I can.

Found I've had a rekindled interest in these unique raptors lately. =)

Then there's all the new pets we'll be getting in Cataclysm too. x__x

I still have an empty stable slot. I have yet to find a Cunning pet that I like, so I'm hoping Cata adds some new ones to that family. But otherwise, I'm happy with my current pet 'family' (Wasp, Warpstalker, Frostsaber Cub, and Hyena).

Like everyone else said...I don't NEED more pets, but I would like 1-2 more. There are some skins I'd ideally like to have back, or try out, but I really don't want to boot anybody in my stable anymore. Plus, when I'm doing dailies I usually rotate between pets, just for the fun of it, and it'd be nice to be able to pull a few more friends out.

This is something I've thought about too. Yes, I want more stable slots, but....is it really all it's cracked up to be? I have 80-odd minipets that I don't give a rat's behind for most of them. I don't want my pets to turn into that. Just adding up ones I think I'd like to retame/try, it's a lot. (Strider Clutchmother, Ice Serpent, Zuldrak devildog, red worg, frostsaber cub, brown armored boar...it goes on) Plus, whatever new beasts come with Cata (Fox named Antoine! Monkey named Marburg!)
But I don't need any of them. I think I valued my pet more when it was just me and Timber.
I guess what will be the best part of it for me is that I will be able to satisfy that taming "itch" without releasing and regretting. But eventually, even the big new stable will be full...

Need? no. Want? Yes. Honestly, do hunters need more than 3 pets? 1 ferocity, 1 tenacity, 1 cunning? Now, that being said, there's at least a dozen more pts I want.

I sure don't need any more. On my hunter that I do anything on, I have all the Ferocity pets I need (AKA Two wolves, a cat and a hyena) and a spare space with a rotating fifth pet. If I ever get into BM again on her, I'll have a Krush in said fifth slot.

NOW... Want.
For her, I'd say...
-Oak, her old plain orange boar. Maybe with armor. He was so sweet.
-Emeraldheart, her old green raptor. Sentimental value.
-Slag, her more recent red raptor. Because I love the name.
-Cinderstorm, her more recent red dragonhawk. Same reason as Slag, plus he was pretty.
-My kingdom for a spider! For PvP purposes. Probably one of those pretty Lava spiders.
-A white or black bear, for fun.

For "the troll with all the spirits", he is all-time BM with a stable full of four adorable SBs and a hydra ghost. Not getting rid of any of them.
So... Want.
-Sorrow, his old plain white tiger.
-Icerunner, his part-time blue tiger.
-A white lion.
-Wisdom, his part-time white chimaera.

For the Tauren with the weird pets.. (White devilsaur, purple chimaera, white gorilla and white/black vulture)
Want.
-Skoll
-He had a raptor at one point. Want. Don't remember the color...
-He had a barking dog. Want.
-A croc, to remind me of an old friend I met in a BG with a croc.
-Araga! I had her at one point...

Gonna jump on the bandwagon here and show you my 'dream' stable!

Current Pets:
Thrakk! Raiding Wolfie.
Valak! Another raiding boy, used for high movement fights and heroics.
Talisman, my PvP boy.
Zodiac, a server-first tame and gorgeous creature.
Regret. He's stalking me, not sure how long I'll have him but he's pretty adamant to come home with me, tamed him twice in 17 hours or so.


Truly Beloved Pets:
Rotclaw! I intend to get this guy back BEFORE Cataclysm. Just in case they're gone forever after!
I do want my Snarler back!

"Collection" Pets:
Styx, one of my first pets. I hate that they changed the idle pose but still gorgeous IMO. Loved but probably wouldn't be used much. Who knows though!
My first pet was Dishu. I do want her back someday. Same as above--loved but probably wouldn't see much use.

I too intend to tame this the minute she again becomes tameable, if she ever does!!

I just don't know what to do about Rotclaw. If I really click with Loque (Regret) I have no idea what to do, I really want Rotclaw back soon--definitely before Cata. But I love all my current pets!!

I could really use about 15 slots or so, 10 for collection, 5 for utility.

I think I'd be happy with 20 or 25, but no more than that. Pets I want again: Tetsusaiga (my white lion that travelled with me for five years before being released for Aotona...); Sheldon (epic turtle of awesomesauce); Twinblade (wicked chimaera); Rhytil (my birdy buddy that I loved to pieces); and Okkoto (my mottled boar who may be upgraded to an armored mottled boar). That's not counting duplicate skins - I want a red devilsaur named Abaddon to be Apollyon's brother, and I'm thinking King Mosh will be the one, and another cat model if they ever make more colors for the riding tiger models. Then, there's the possible new pets in Cataclysm. If thunder lizards become tameable, you better believe my elven booty will be trotting out to get one immediately.

Do I need all those pets? No, of course not, but every one I've listed has some sentiment tied to it that I miss, and want back. Even if I only use them to go fishing with, that's good enough for me.

Edit: Oh my! I forgot about Blaze (the red wind serpent named after my RL snake) and Surge (super-cool yellow silithid). I gotta get those two back, too!!!

Lets see do I really need so many pets? Nope, do I really want? Yes! My current stable makes no sense but I wouldnt change a thing lol

Raito - my little sweet boy, loyal to the end
Samson- my alternate slot, saving him for King Krush when he spawns for me
Noelle- my pvp girl, its fun seeing a parrot go after hordies in the pvp, kind of reminds me of the scene from crows lol
Aelina- my raiding wolf

King kursh- the ellusive pain in the *** who I want so badly, saw him twice but never again.. hoping today will be my day
Ceres- I miss this girl
Moshpit- he and i have alot of history together, so it would be nice to get him again
Hyena- I really do like them, may want the one from the scarlet place
Teeka- how I miss this girl
Nardia- hes on my other hunter but I may want him on this hunter since my other hunter is on my bros account
Sian - one of my fave skins by far
Hawkbane- I really enjoyed lvling with him, so Id love to get him back

I'm rolling another hunter just so I can get some of the Azeroth species that might be endangered.

Gonna share mine too since I've got time to kill before my next exam. =) I agree with the majority here. I could abandon my Skoll and have room for another pet, but I want 3 Spirit Beasts (I absolutely detest Arcticuris' model), which isn't feasible right now since Xena is untameable, Frëki is my raid pet/canine compadré, and I need a Devilsaur!

Current Stable

Xena, who I'm absolutely obsessed with, pet-wise (can ya tell? Haha!). It would be UNTHINKABLE to ever let her go, even if she's made tameable again.

Frëki, my yappy Prairie Wolf. Been with me since 70, never leaving my side again. <3

Kainos, I keep him mainly for looks, I don't have much of a bond with him...yet. He's the Alpha Dog, so to speak *snigger*

Medea, my beautiful maiden. First SB, hopefully not the last. =)

REALLY want

He's infiltrated my dreams, my notebooks, the inner reaches of my mind...this is very common in hunters but...he has to be mine...at every expense of my diminishing sanity. xD At this rate I'll have to get rid of Styx or Kainos for him.

At the beggining of Wrath, I had a Yellow Silithid named Ickis. I've always loved Silithids cause they look like the Bugs from Starship Troopers, one of my favourite films. <3

Pets I'd have with more slot spaces (This is essentially a list of EVERY pet I've wanted/owned since starting WoW, many I can live without, but if I had the space, I totally would pick up. =))

At level 70, I had a Winterspring Pride Watcher named Erulissë, I released him back in Winterspring so he could start his own family amongst his own kind...I miss him sometimes...I tamed Gondria because they have the same basic skin and I thought maybe I can bring him back but...well, Gondria will always be a she to me.

Have had her TWICE, each time getting rid of her for another pet...I want her too...

Have had Nuramoc twice, each time getting rid of him for a new pet. >.< A pattern is emerging, yes...

I've never owned a CoreHound, and I love Lime Green. :3

So pretty. <3 Shame about the family skill.

At 70, I went to SM to tame one of these beauties...named him Ickis (I reused the name for my Silithid), this was back when we could only have 3 pets...;_;

I had a Green raptor briefly from DTK, named him Toxicity...he was amazing. <3

My first pet EVER. I get very sentimental every time I see another hunter with a green Tarantula. =)

AND then there's all the untameable ones...The outland cyan/lime green two-headed birds, the sabres in Darnassus, the Corrupted Cat, the ethereal croc/hydra (had both, abandoned them both, hydra made way too much noise and I kept getting told off for it in major cities, THEN it got fixed!! DOH >.<), the 3 untameable Dragonhawk skins, the purple spiders from Naxx, the Red Warp Stalker, the wasps, and the Ghost Wolf..

Yep, we need more stable slots.

I kind of do need a few extra slots, would love extra animals for pvp - different types to annoy different classes and a couple slots for a change of wolf once in a while, I don't even have room for any tenacity anymore

This may be a lame question, but how do you guys just put the pictures like that in your posts, the ones of pets? I have uploaded images before as attachments, but not just posted them like that.

I would love to post my want list in pictures here. Because.. well.. five stable slots is NOT enough! Is there any word on how many extras we will be getting?

If you go to the Petopia website, click the 'Gallery of Pets' option, and right click the picture of the pet you want, 'View Image' (at least, on Mozilla), copy paste the link, then where you go to post, there's a little box that says 'Img'. Click it, and post your link between the 1st bracket*Img*bracket, and the 2nd bracket*/Img*backet. =)
