Two Kings

I love looking for rare pets. It's one of my favorite hobbies in game and a glimpse of something rare is a thrill. This week, I had finally run into the King of the Basin and got to spend some time hovering around Krush, taking screenshots and just basking in the glory that is that big green devilsaur. Part of me sorely wished that Shaon was able to make a tame attempt right there and then as the set-up was perfect, but doing so at her current level and gear would have only failed. So I merely watched him.
I have a devilsaur in Shaon's stable roster, a fine red colored guy I call Morok. He's got a lot of personality and I think he's the only pet I have ever talked back to when I hear him roar from another room. Morok has been in my roster since I could tame one and I love my devil.
Now the guild's got a thing about rares too. And a lot of us love to just go and look and admire. So when a guildie in Un'Goro let us know over chat that she was looking at King Mosh, several of us had to go and look. We formed a party and converged on Un'Goro. King Mosh was a sight, huge, forbidding and looking like he owned the place. Vephriel decided to tease Mosh a little but always ran out of range to reset him. We all finally settled on an upjut of rock that he wanders right up to but keeps us out of aggro range.
And then I got the itch. The sudden urge to try and make what would be a challenging tame. Mosh cannot be trapped and I'd been wondering if, with Fear Ward, did I have enough haste to make the tame before he could break it?
So, long story short, with my husband's priest called in from Northrend, with the help of guild-mates in the form of baked manta ray and strategy, Shaon made an attempt to make the tame. I let Morok go, knowing that if I failed, I could get him back. I grabbed a temporary pet and made the attempt. The first three tries ended with me having to Feign Death, guild-mates scattering wide to avoid getting Mosh's attention each time. On the forth attempt, with another temporary gorilla (thank you gorillas of Un'Goro!), I got the right combo or I just got really lucky. I sent in the pet with Fear Ward on me and coming to cooldown on hubby's priest. Waited for Mosh to fear the pet, cast BW, let the gorilla go, and started the tame. Soon as FW wore, hubby cast it again. Mosh was casting Fear again just as the timer came to the end and the tame took hold. It was a rush!
So now I have a king at my side. And I must say, I could not have done it without the guild's support and knowledge. You guys rock! My husband was a major help too, for Fear Ward is a mighty thing in these situations. So now I have learned two things. First, with a bit more gearing up and some good food, Shaon might seek out Krush someday when Cata rolls around. Second, my husband's priest is gonna be a busy Troll, now that he knows the in's and out's of Fear Ward.
Screenshots to follow at some point. I have some and I know several guildies do, too.
