How close will the pre-patch be to the expansion?

These pre-patches have been added to nearly every expansion, and with the prediction of Warlords being in the fall/winter release. How much time do people have before 6.0 hits?
Example: Getting the SoO Wolf, and Pandaren Phoenixes.

Personally, I guess 6.0 hits about three or four months after beta starts, and that beta starts within next two months.
So based on my gut feeling, you have five, six months to do those, though I wouldn't be surprised if it's longer than that.

Still trying to find a cm group going for silvers (want to get at least 1 mount before they go bb)

Nobody knows. They've given no indication of the timing on this yet. The rest is purely speculation.
