New Collie! Barclay!

Hey all! I'm getting another collie! He's a male blue merle and right now his name is Gizmo, but I don't want to keep that name since it ends with an O and my current dog, Dino, his name ends with an O as well so I just want to avoid any possible confusion (also my uncle says he hates the name and I can do better than that ahaha). I've thought about the name Connie, but my parents are just not having it and seem convinced that gender-neutral names don't exist. -_- I'm looking for a name that's Scottish or English in origin, something that has a good sound to it... like something you can baby talk or call and it doesn't sound awkward. But anyway, on to the best part, pictures!

OMG he's is very very hansome, such a lovely looking little man.

If I have more than one pet, I try and break their names up by sounds and syllable, they tend to recognize their own name easier that way compared to another. I personally try and not have too many syllables as well as it can be a bit cumbersome when calling them repeatedly, which you inevitably do when they don't come, or you need their attention.

How about something a little more short and sweet? I know these aren’t necessarily very Scottish or English, but they do have a good sound for a boy dog.

Bud
Ace
Jax
Zeke
Ren
Chaz
Kale

Anyways, just food for thought, :)

He's gorgeous, Mia!

And he's so a Duncan. Which is Scottish. Or maybe a Hamish.

... or since you liked Connie, maybe you could go for Connor, which is Irish, but close enough :)

Okay, I really love Pippin. I think it's adorable. Also, because I'm terribly creative, here's my two cents: Scotty!

Well, if you want to go classic collie, there's always "Lad" and "Bruce." :)

He looks like a Bronson or a Spencer to me. Don't know why; I just see it in his face.

Lad or Laddie is one of my future collie names, as well as Pal. :D I think I'll save both of those for a sable though, if not Lad then definitely Pal. Pal must be a sable

In other news I might be bringing him home this Sunday! So excited!!

Alright I brought him home Saturday night and while staying up with him at like 4 am I was testing out names, mostly Duncan and Conley, but then I threw out Barclay, which is actually the very first name I considered when I decided to get this little guy, and what do you know, he looked right at me and hopped in my lap. XD So Barclay it is!

This calls for more pictures! :D Yesterday we took him out to a couple of places to get him some things (and get Starbucks for us haha we were all so tired) and we brought the camera along.

Then some exploration of the back yard.

And bless him he took on crate training like a champ!

He is such a great puppy he's very confident so new things don't scar him (that I've seen so far). Honestly the only thing I've seen him show fear toward is my other dog Dino, who is still not too happy about having to share my attention. Hopefully when Barclay is bigger they can play together (they've played a little bit so far but lately Barclay has been keeping his distance, which I'm pretty sure is what Dino wants, heh).

He's so gorgeous Mia! And Barclay is a good name. It sounds like he chose it himself :)

He's adorable. The picture in the backyard is gorgeuous - it looks like it could be from a magazine :) Keep us updated about his progress!

Dang, he's a cute lil guy. I like the name, too!

I was gonna ask if you were still playing on AD, since I haven't run across you in forever. Then I checked the armory and, yeah, ya obviously are. You're far further into Heroic SoO than I am, that's for sure.

Ahaha yeah whenever I play WoW it's usually leveling alts, raiding, or challenge modes. Not much leveling of alts right now though since this guy is keeping me busy.

Speaking of which, he's doing really great! He's been here a full week now and he and Dino are getting along great. Barclay looooooooves Dino he's always trying to play with him when they're out in the back yard and Dino is really warming up to him a lot and just being a good alpha dog to him. He's also really smart like he slearned sit in the span of one training session (I think his breeder has been working with him and his siblings earlier on) and he just sits all the time sometimes he'll come up to me and sit when he just wants me to pet him and it's great. I've also learned he REALLY loves kids which is wonderful. Dino is kind of scared of kids but Barclay was raised around kids of various ages so he really likes them. I took him out the other day and a little girl walked past and he got so happy and oh gosh he pays attention to the TV too, like Dino, but whereas Dino wll only really respond to canines and other animals on the TV Barclay will respond to people like he was sitting with my on the count chewing on a toy and this girl on the TV cried and he just stopped what he was doing and looked at the TV and gosh idk I just really love how responsive he is to people like he is already so well socialized it's fantastic. I'm thinking of signing him up for some puppy classes (I actually have a coupon for a one hour free puppy class thank you Petsmart Puppy Starter Kit seriously if you're getting a puppy go to a Petsmart and get that there are so many coupons I got his first bag of food for free like omg so many coupons) and then taking him in to take the S.T.A.R. test and eventually see if he could be a Canine Good Citizen. He's just so well behaved (except when he's hyper but he's 10 weeks pff) I just want to see what all I can do with him. On another note, I just got hired at a dog daycare/boarding place so heck yes. :D

Now onto the part where I post more pictures! Today I got him a new toy and he loooooooooooooooves it oh my gosh.

"Blizzard, why is this pterrorwing so hard to tame?!"

If you ever want to see even more pictures I post a crap ton along with videos on my blog with the tag "look at my dog" along with pictures and videos of Dino. :D
