Hi all you alt healers! I'm about to lvl my next 85 to 90 (alt #16 - yes i am cray cray!) my 2nd priest so I thought I'd heal my fiance' Rogue through dungeons (ill go shadow for solo questing tho). I was wondering if there was a difference between holy and disc interms of the better 5 man healer?

I have raided as Holy in Vanilla BC and Paladin healed in wrath but thought I might give disc a go this time. I'm abit scared this time round as tanks tend to bum rush dungeons I find and not stop for the healer to actually heal lol!! Any advice welcome!

I have some mouse over macros to make it abit easier and followed the talent guide etc. If you'd like to check my toon out she is Casdinga (US). Pretty sure she's the only one in armoury

Personally I prefer holy healing. I am more for the direct route rather then the damage mitigation of disc, though tbh, I haven't tried disc past lv 20. Though if you are worried about tanks running off, disc may be better since you can toss shields up and hopefully get that heal in when you catch up.

But...I always go holy, and if the tank decides to run off and try soloing...I don't bother keeping up with them, I tend to stick with the group since there's usually at least one other person who can "off tank" when the idiot tank goes splat.

Thanks makoes! I gave disc a whirl and it seems ok (the warrior dps died twice so maybe im not that awesome at it lol) but i want to try holy too. I'm trying to figure a way to go from single target healing macro (chakra) to my aoe one that changes the chakra for me. Do you have any good macros or do you just stay in one chakra the whole time?

Thanks for helping I'm such a nervous healer nowadays, not sure why. I was always fine up until wrath and then it seemed everyone got mega cranky in dungeons...(although i will say my grp last night were very nice and the warrior didnt seem to care he died twice!)

I don't use macro's much, or addons for that matter...So I can't really help with that. I just have my spells on the default UI bars, with some of my toggle ones being on the upper bar so I can easily click on them while using the 123 bar to cast spells.

As for healing in dungeons, it's really not that different from dps or tanking in that you have your targets, and you have you'r spells and it's just making sure you cast the right spell on the right target. Healers have it even easier because they have the same targets all the time.

Shield and renew were my most cast spells in dungeons while leveling. Icy-vein's has this handy guide.
