It was posted in the WoD forum because I think everyone assumed it'd be a WoD mount. However it's on the 5.4.8 PTR and also has item data suggesting a possible new store mount, so we could be seeing it well before WoD and it does deserve mention here

LOL, didn't say it wasn't worthy of mention.. only that it HAD been mentioned before. (the OP has been slightly altered which, of course, changes the meaning of my response slightly)

Actually, I wasn't addressing your response at all, which was fine. Just letting the OP know their post was still of some use in that forum

If this is going to be a store mount there better be a version of this mount being available in WoD as a reward... and with that I mean a good obtainable reward like a reputation, not a meta achievement or challenge mode mount.

Tbh right now it feels like rubbing salt in a open wound with WoD not even out yet and already putting this in if they indeed put it in before the expac comes out. (the fey dragon/bat was in the files longer before it came out so I will give theme the benefit of the doubt on this one)

But I am getting a little tired with blizzards tactics lately.
People asked years for a bat mount... Mount finally gets made and it gets thrown in the store (ironically near/during very heavy troll based event) same with the fey and also the new skinned chimera. Now they add the ravager.

I rechecked my FFXIV sub again for shits and giggles and there you actually get stuff for simply being subbed.
I am working towards a 1 year sub atm and I received the following rewards: 7 minions (aka pets), 2 mounts (3th one (fat chocobo) was the CE PS4 release, but everyone that had the CE edit either PS3 or PC or upgraded the standard to CE got this mount for FREE! plus a moogle minion) 2 bardings for your chocobo (armor basically that you can equip on your bird), 1 free transform potion (aka free race/appearance change), 50x teleport tickets,
and a voucher for swimsuit gear (if that floats your boat I guess >_>)

On my 7-8 year wow sub.... nothing but I see unique skinned Raf-mounts and store mounts. And for some weird reason it seems to ramp up in speed that it gets cycled in on top of that.

This is not meant as a rant but for me lately it has been putting some things in perspective.

It really feels like blizzard reached a point where its the scale is starting to tip in the wrong direction. The chimera was already riding the border for me.

Dunno what are you guys thoughts on it?

I'm actually inclined to agree on most of this myself.

I too feel that the number of mounts that have appeared on the store have clearly had a LOT of work poured into them and have had really amazing potential in game.
On a most occasions I have felt almost a little annoyed that such amazing, beautiful and completely unique designs are then "Locked" away due to them being store mounts.

The Fey Dragons, not ending up in game in any another capacity (as they did as a mini pet on the ptr for a while)

The Windsteeds, stunning without armor and in 4 colourways, could have been used on the timless isle, even just as mobs, but no. And heaven forbid they make it a new tamable family, because goats are so popular (sorry goats lovers) But now with MoP wrapping up, chances = 0

The Bloodseeker, totally agreed with above, people have wanted a bat mount for AGES! Then they make it a store only mount? That's pretty cheap ... Oh and also came in a beautiful green and silver, but will never been available (tell me otherwise but no, I am just not naive about it)

Then the Chimera, and to be recently told the new versions/models won't be tamable.... say what?!? Oh that's right, it's a store mount.

and now the probably the Grinning Ravanger.... which will have the same fate as all the others... To be locked away, in that style a colour (Oh I would love to be proved wrong) So no, I hope you like red, and I hope you didn't like the non-armored version as you will never get to ride that either.

Now I know this should probably be in the rant thread, but what Malackai has mentioned is something that I've been thinking for a while too, and it just makes me sad how they lock things away because of, what is essentially, money.

It nice to know I am not the only one thinking this heh I completely forgot about those windsteeds.

I think swtor does store mounts better. Not only can players resell them on their version of the AH, but subscribers get a certain amount of store currency every month, so players can save up for a few months to get one.

So does Neverwinter. And I like it more and more.
In NW the "real-money" store uses it's own currency ("zen") that you can either buy with real money, or with in-game currency ("diamonds", that are akin to WoW's valor in the way they're earned, and spent) from other players.
Even though diamonds are gated behind a cap of ~25k/day, it's a cap on transformation of the rough diamonds, that you actually earn, into the useable ones - so you could, for example, earn 100k one day, and then for the following 3 days login just to click the transform buton, if it suits you playschedule better. I really like that idea of a cap, and would love to see it implemented in WoW not only with the bonus roll coins.
