Alliance afraid to go to Blizz con?

Apparently some alliance players say they have been afraid to go to blizz con from fear of being attacked by Horde players. Is there any precedent of this happening?

That sounds really silly to me. If you are that afraid of that happeing don't say what faction you are then?

Is there any proof this happens? Can these people show us that this has happened in the past? Those questions are aimed at those people not you btw.

ROFL... made-up drama at its best.

"the evil Horde"
"Blizzard prefers the Horde"
"blah blah blah"

So far, the only violence at a nerd convention of which I have heard, was at a Harry Potter symposium... and the mechanical pencil was more powerful than the sword (yes, one nerd stabbed another nerd with a mechanical pencil: "GAAH! *click click click* *stabby stabby*").

Isn't Blizzcon held in uncontested territory? So the only pvp that should occur would be duels...other then that players risk the ImageBlizzard guards ganking them with nerf bats.

I went to Blizzcon a couple years back and can personally say that while the idea of legitimately being -attacked- by horde players is (probably) silly, Alliance players do get -harassed- by Horde players if they can tell you're a Bluesider.

Because I did. To be fair, these were jerk-ass teenagers that were yelling shit because they probably yell shit at anyone that isn't in their kiddie clubhouse, but I didn't see any Alliance players yelling shit at any Horde.

I think con security would be pretty quick to break up any physical scuffles, but for people who don't like being verbally harangued and insulted for their choice of faction, it can be offputting.

I've been harassed by Alliance players at cons here. So Horde players do get harassed too.

I honestly think it's very silly to make it out that one side are somehow "better" then the other or "ruder" or anything. Because it's not true each side have their asshats and each side have their really nice people.

Pfft. That's silly. They got bouncers/security there. They'd never let it happen.

Yeah, that was two years ago. Everyone I know was pretty pissed over it, and I have to say, it was in shitty taste and should definitely not have been done. Not just because I'm an Alliance player but the dude from Cannibal Corpse is an unmitigated douchebucket and should not be expressing ANY views for or about Blizzard or its products in a professional forum.

I'd say the biggest precedent is for official forum posters to make any shit up they like and lie about their concerns and fears just to get attention and, well, be a prick. If any of them are going to Blizzcon I doubt there's the slightest increase in their fear of going. Should Horde players be scared because we just defeated their Warchief and left them in tatters?

I'd say this is 100% childish leverage to try to get Blizzard to get them to release their bike too. What I think they don't even have the ability to see is that Blizzard's management are adults over the age of 30 and are not going to find their posts the least bit genuine.

Actually, Blizzard has already said they're going to put in the other bike, they just haven't said how. There was implication you'd have to 'do something' for it, however, though whether it's cash, gold, or a bottle of angry tears, they haven't said. But they -are- putting it in. I dunno, I'm half expecting them to just go 'LOL JK' and put them both in gratis.

It really is childish bullcrap. Really if it's so true they'd of been adults about it and shown proof about it.

They never do.They just say this crap so that they can whine and act like babies over stuff. I think saying these people are childish is being kind.

I mean I've met Horde players irl and when we say shit like "Oh you're alliance, we can't talk to you", we're just messin' around and laughing cause we don't really mean it. I mean I had a server at Applebees say that to me and we glared at each other the whole time but you could see us trying not to laugh cause we were screwing around.

This is all actually quite interesting.

As some of you know, I've almost exclusively played Horde for the last 8 years (or 9... I can't remember any more).
I only recently started playing two Worgen with a whole group of Petopians on an Oceanic server (and am thoroughly enjoying myself, by the way).

I've always said I relate more to the horde storylines, and this remains true.

But I find it hysterical to hear people complaining about things in Trade chat, about "The Horde" doing such-and-such (like killing a flightmaster somewhere, or some quest NPC, etc..) and how terrible "The Horde" are.

The thing is, having played Horde for so long, and on so many toons (and actually on different servers as well), I can say that I hear the EXACT same thing on the Horde side: "The Alliance are...(fill in the blank)" for having done (fill in the unforgivable atrocity).

So Blizzard employees seem to in the majority play Horde... there IS an attraction to playing a faction that has a "dark" under-current.
And still, many players continue to think of the Alliance as "the good guys", which we know simply isn't true.

The attraction to "the dark" is clearly manifest in the popularity of Worgen characters.

So all this "Horde players harass Alliance players" thing is a complete non-issue.

In reality, it's "some WoW players harass some other WoW players, regardless of which faction they belong to".

Except dwarves... dwarves are evil... yes...

This is interesting and like Sukurachi I agree that ppl do the same stuff no matter what side of the fence you play. Ive played both since vanilla and although I do find Horde abit more mature at times then alliance there really is little difference - people are people.

I agree. I've seen the exact same complaints when playing characters of both factions. Sometimes it's like reading two books with the exact same story and dialogue, just with the character names changed.

I often spend a couple evenings each week running AV with an organized Horde group. Naturally, an AV with an organized group of 20 or more people is usually going to be a win. Recently, one of the regulars was on his Alliance character and ended up in an AV against our group. He logged into vent and relayed some of the comments when the Alliance players discovered it wasn't going to be another quick win. The ones that stood out were claims that AV was Horde-biased and, even better "Horde always win AV." Really? Maybe that guy only got in against premades.

Anyway, I think it's just that people have a faction they prefer, which is normal, and they tend to take on a 'grass is greener' view of the other faction and its players. In reality, there are good and bad folk in both factions. With cross-server groups and CRZ, I suspect one just has more chances to encounter the less pleasant folks. In the 'old days' you knew who the jerks on your server were and didn't use them as a guide for their whole faction.

Oh, and it's not dwarves that're evil. It's gnomes. Definitely gnomes.
