If we want Rylaks to be Chimeras (and I *do*!), then lighting up the forums is a good plan. But instead of just saying 'Rylaks should be Chimeras', come up with a suggestion for a new exotic family to go along with it. They presently have four normal families and one exotic coming in. If we tell them we don't want the only exotic they're offering, and don't offer a different suggeston, then it's not gonna happen; I suspect they're wanting at least one new exotic family!

I'm not on beta, so I can't very well 'light up the forums' with it. But with our Noah here (and yes, dammit, I'm going to *keep* calling him Noah unless asked to stop!) I'm hoping that even a thread here will get some activity to it.

I made the Mana Wyrms suggestion. I could also suggest 'Thunderbeasts/Thunder Lizards' as an exotic and bring in Kodos, Mushan, and Thunder Lizards through that. I know a lot of people have been wanting pterrordaxes. While I'm not sure if there are enough in the family for *me* to like it as a family (I like a number of different colors; these groups that only have three tameable creatures drives me nuts; I'm a 'minimum of 10 choices' type of person) you could bring that up as a suggestion and bring up the 'why'. Get some support.

Other suggestions? Agreements/disagreements? People who really love Rylaks as their own family and don't want to see them combined with chimeras?

I think Thunder Lizards should be normal pets as that a lot of exotic beasts appear rarely as mounts as opposed the the family you've suggested. Pterrorwings or Blightbeasts(http://wowpedia.org/Nerubian_flyer and http://wowpedia.org/Nerubian_spiderling) would get my votes though, but I'm unsure should Kunchong, Silithids and Nerubian fiends should be grouped together. But then again I would love for more insectoid family, so my suggestion would be that slimmer silithid models should be a group consists of silithid ants and hoppers as well Nerubian Flyers and Nerubian Spiderlings, while Kunchong and Silithid Colossus should be grouped as 'Colossus'. Screw that, just expand the Silithid family to include Nerubian Spiderlings, Flyers and Kunchong since its the only exotic family sans post cata quality models.

Another groupd that I would love to see is Firebird or Pheonix or Roc. But I would happy to see both Thunder Lizard or Pterrorwings family as both family could include post cata quality models.

However, since that we also should take into account of having to be back to Draenor, I would DIE for an Elleks/Mastodon family.

They can be grouped as 'Behemoth'.

Family: Behemoth (Exotic)
models: Outland Ellek, Draenor Ellek and Northrend Mastodons.
Diet : Cheese, Fungus, Fruits, Bread
Skills; Trumpet (Bloodlust), Tusk Attack (Physical Debufff) and Herd Alpha (Armor bonus spec)


Another group I think would be awesome would be Protobird, would include Terrorclaw adult, chick and maybe Dreadraven?

Family: Protobird
models; Terrorclaw chick, Terrorclaw Wings, Dread Raven
Diet: Meat, Fruits, Fungus, Bread
Skills; Tailwind (Haste Buff), I have no idea about the rest, maybe levitate?

I would also like to suggest some fix for current Exotic family skills as some are just tad 'aesthetic'.

Both Worms and Chimera's aoe removed. Chimeras get 'Guardian Wind' (levitate) and for Rylaks, their Levitate would cause them to 'fly'. Worms 'burrow' changed into its own version of deterence. I would also suggest that Devilsaur's feast to removed/changed into 'Chomp'; When the devilsaur's life is lower than 50%, its basic attack would return 2% life, lasts for 8 seconds. But I DO LOVE the idea of our pets eating our enemies so I suggest the current 'Feast' changed into a minor glyph.

"Feast"; Your carnivorous and omnivorous pets can now scavenge on the remnants of your enemies, returning x hp and x focus, while your herbivorous pets can graze for the same effect.

I wouldn't mind seeing the lava hounds being made into an Exotic Pet. There are a few of them labeled Beast in the game.

Would you prefer a group called Firebeasts that would include Pheonixes and Firebirds or they included in Corehound, or in Dog or in its own family? Frankly, I prefer them to be in Corehound as they are very little models or choices in that particular family.

While not truly a new family, at least we're getting clefthooves, which contain a lot of new looks and will dominate an exotic family. In fact it's more like adding rhinos to clefthooves than the other way around . It would be nice to get something that looks like a different kind of creature to an existing family, though, so I know what you mean. A chimaera by any other name still smells like a chimaera

While I will always be open to more families, I don't think we need any replacement for rylak. We have Clefthooves and Stags now. Two families.

B) Clefthooves aren't a new family. Clefthooves are rhinos. Like hook wasps are wasps.

How about mana worms/eels? Nifty little things are already beasts and they look rather exotic to begin with.

These could easily fit into the serpent category. I'd love to have one of those purple mana wryms from Outland. You could even add the sea serpents into this. It'd be a larger family, sure, but you get my point. The sea creature are a off. They're meant to be in the sea, not floating off of the ground. Then again, who tames a dinosaur, only to have it shrink drastically? Warcraft doesn't apply to all the laws of physics and logic.

Nah, I misunderstood. Then we have no exotic family yet. Not sure if one is a required addition to every expansion, but yeah, it would make sense.

Well, like I said to Wain, I'm not sure an exotic family is a requirement for any new expansion, but yeah, it would be preferable. Fully forgot that clefthooves would be added to rhinos. Mainly because I still have this stuff in my head about Jeremy wanting to make a new family for them before.


But yeah, I support it, then. Then again, I already did before, because, like I said: a new family is always welcome. :p

As far as Exotic families go, I think Pterrorwings would probably be the best choice.
Let's look at a few of the facts:

1.) Muffinus said that Sandreavers and Kunchong will not be tamable "this round", so they're possibilities for the future.
We'll count them out as new family candidates for this expansion.

2.) Pterrorwings were generally the next-highest-wanted untamables besides Hydras in those polls that pop up every month or so. We can tame Hydras now, so...

3.) The Pterrorwings are "different" and "dangerous" enough to be exotic families. Also, between the 5-6 colors of the new model, and the 3 or 4 of the Pterrordax, they would make a properly diverse and interesting family (more so than Riverbeasts or the current Rylaks.)

Much agreed. Thought before, that, if there has to be one more family, then pterrorwings/pterodactyls/skyscreamers would be the best. They also appear in WoD.

I think that pterrorwings/pterodactyls/skyscreamers would make a perfect new exotic family. Rylaks could join Chimera's (they looks as much like chimera's as hookwasps look like wasps)

There are a few nerubians I would love to see tamable (new (Exotic?) family or into an existing one), primarily the "flying face-hugger" ones and the spiderlings...and whatever those things are, lol.

I would personally like to see fish such as sharks, lobstrok, carp, sea serpents (like the one in gorgrond) ect.

While those two nerubian models (especially the spiderling) are top on my most desired pets, I agree that an exotic family added in WoD should be one from Draenor. There were thunderlizards on Outland in WC3, but we never saw them in BC. Since the terroclaw birds are more likely (confirmed) than elekk, I'd go with them. Slow-fall is a stealth / water walking quality ability, so they'd need an exotic ability in addition to tailwind. Other exotic abilities have a pet-tank feel to them, so maybe something visually like Ji-kun's quills, a wider range 'thunderstomp' that does a LOT of threat with a longer cooldown.

I like the other ideas, except I'm not so hot on the fire elemental beasts as hunter pets (pun intended).

I hate the Rylaks and would like to see them replaced by Pterrowings, but not the Skyscreamers. For a new exotic, I don't know and really would not be in favor of most of the ones listed here. The Phoenix however, might be a good choice. The fiery hounds would be nice too. You could even cook your dinner over them while they slept.

The real problem with exotics is that they can't make them too good because the other specs would scream that they can't have them.

Ji-kun hatchlings will probably already go in bird or raptor family, and the larger ji-kun birds will probably go in the bird of prey family.

Shale spiders have never been shown as creatures that can be tamed, but they can. Whereas for the hellhounds, there is a precedent in the form of an actual hunter boss, who owns two of them. They have dog-like instinct, and they're cool upgrades to the current available demon dog model we have.

Those should be spiders, imo. Spiders could use some new models. The last ones were.. well, fire ones, and a bit.. specific.


That last pic you linked is an abandoned creature model with no animations.
