Levelling a Shaman!

Xeronia, my little baby panda shaman (who actually has the same name as my baby NE druid) is going to be levelled, hopefully, before Draenor. I've never levelled a caster, as a lvl14 Mage doesn't count. Hunters and feral druids need agility and stamina on their gear. I was planning on having an elemental shaman (I feel lost without some sort of pet by my side) and have had a mental block.

What stats do they need? I tried to google this and it's all max level poopie doop which sadly she's not up to yet. I was planning on getting her full levelling gear (that's BoA) but I don't want to buy maying if I've no idea what stats she needs. Stamina is given. Intellect? Spirit? What even is the difference between them two?

What is the quickest way to level, particularly through Outland and Northrend? 'Cause oh my Lordy lord do I hate Outland and Northrend. I was planning on simply questing through Cataclysm and Pandaria, but perhaps completely miss out Vash'jr on her. If there's a water expansion, I will enrage completely. No. I don't want to swim everywhere!

Also, how long did it take you lot to level a toon up to 90? Don't say "a few minutes" because we all know that's through a boost :D any tips on playing a Shaman? I've always loved the class, I heard they get nasty nerfs because the Devs hate shaman, and they can move while they cast! Isn't that brilliant?!

I referred to http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/elemental- ... onsumables but my brains just leaked out my ears completely :lol:

*goes back to mopping up brains that leaked*

Can BoA gear be transmogged? I've always wondered if it could. It's not very nice looking and if I'm stick in it from level 1-80 I'd like it to look alright. I'm sure those who have issues with mismatch are nodding their heads knowingly.

Edit-- I sound like the noob I was 3 years ago -.- but what's the deal with totems? I see my guild discussing them, and my mind just goes 'nope'. The lack of school seems to have made me slightly dumber recently :o

BoA are transmogable :D

Hit Rating or Spirit (until the 15% hit cap); at lv cap
Intellect;
Mastery Rating;
Haste Rating;
Critical Strike Rating.

Here is Icy-vein's guide to elemental shaman rotation

Elemental is pretty easy, and yes, atm we can cast on the move :D

Ahh okay. Thanks Makoes. I have got a BoA staff (Dissectors staff of mutation) which I reckon Xeronia could use when she gets to an apt level. I've got two actually...hm. I'll see which one is better later.

BoA gear is expensive and last time I didn't level my druid with it simply because I don't level toons often enough for it to be of use really. Then again, I'd rather get Xeronia up to 60 quickly, just to see if I like the class enough. As long as she's at 90 before 6.0 it's okay. Or a little after. Does anyone a quick way to get justice points? Is it only rewarded from random heroic dungeons?

Elemental is pretty easy and Makoes covered the stats well. At (current) endgame, they can change a little depending upon whether one is going for a mastery or haste build. Each has some advantages in some types of fights. It's a fun spec, in my opinion, and once you can wear mail, you've little competition in dungeons when it comes to loot. I prefer it to enhancement. (I should note that I'm the worlds worst healer, no matter the class, so I don't do resto)

One caveat though: It's kind of klunky right now in WoD beta. The loss of casting on the move makes it more dependent upon procs and instants, and right now, it just doesn't feel like elemental has enough of those. Blizz also doesn't seem to have figured out how to work in Earthquake in raiding/dungeons. The same blue posted twice in a thread, once stating that Earthquake was just something ele shamans can use for variety in their rotation and then later that it was pretty much required for proper dps and was dependent upon careful positioning of mobs by the tanks. Go figure.

I have an ele/resto shammy alt, and got to say both specs are pretty enjoyable and comparatively easy. I only do LFRs on her, though, so no high-end gameplay really...

Ele basics:
- keep a fire totem down (single or aoe, depending on situation)
- keep a fire dot up on a target
- spam the lightning spell (single or aoe, depending on situation)
- use magma spell on proc (from the dot)
- use earthshock on proc (from lightning)
- rest are burst CDs

Resto basics:
- use water single-heal totem on CD
- put rain down on a clump of players
- keep riptide up on 1-2 targets (ideally tanks, but if you're LFR-lazy, it can very well be yourself. At least you won't die, right? :P )
- spam chain heal while targetting the riptided dude
- keep your aoe-heal totem for omgwtfbbq moments
- rest are to-complicated-to-bother-in-LFR :P

I really like the synergy of both specs. My shammy wears healing gear by default now, but still can pack a punch in it when I feel like going ele-dps instead.
As resto or ele you keep most of the spells of the other spec and can use them relatively well. I haven't tried doing the "You're doing it wrong" achi yet (I haven't brought that altie into the proving grounds at all yet), but I would guess ele healing has a potential to be the thing :)
