1,000 seems pretty easy honestly. However, I haven't actually done any of the holiday stuff for ears since I was granted the full achive when achives came out. I just never had any incentive to do it xD
But from what I do remember, you can get a lot from hitting all the candy buckets. It'll just take a lot of work.

I've just finished the candy buckets of Kalimdor on one toon, and it gave me around 60 candies.
I'm not sure that buckets alone will get you to 1000.

I did all except maybe ten buckets today - to get my 300 treats needed for the new pets. I got to 301 before stopping, but I'd perhaps have had about 320 or so if I had used every single bucket available. Dailies and the daily dungeon will give you some - but I don't know if it's enough for 1000. There are two weeks though - crossing my fingers for you!

There's no way to reach 1000 treats in one year currently, even with all of the buckets and doing the dailies each day. I think I read that the 1000 cost might be a bit too high than what they intended and they may change it.

It's possible that WoD would have enough buckets, but even then I'm doubtful there could be that many. I think if you do everything every day you might get around the 650 range in one year, and I don't see how one continent would grant almost 400 treats alone. You can't even save treats because they disappear from your bags once Hallow's End is finished, so it's not something that could be worked at over a couple years. I have a feeling they're going to lower the cost.

Can you get them from the boss?

Yeah, but that's only a couple each day and it's included with everyone's estimates on the maximum amount you could maybe earn in one year. Either way, the only thing certain is that it's not feasible to reach 1000 with what we have available to us currently.

Hopefully they fix it. I would love to get that costume. I can use my alts to get the pets.

50 charges? No thanks... I'll pass.

Yeah, I honestly feel something like that should be a permanent toy without charges. Even if 50 is a lot and it would probably take me a long time to use all of them, I wouldn't like the feeling of it being temporary or limited. I don't think I'll save up for it, too much work to get 500.

I will save up for it. I have 240 candy so far. I have 6 buckets left of the old world. I just have to do Outland and Northend after that.

Well, 50 charges for 500 candy is a lot better than the 1 charge you get now for 1000 candy. Good to see they're fixing it. When I saw that yesterday I thought the can't be sirious about it! XD

i saw blizz will be lowering the price for that down to 500 candy, since alot of people have complained to blizz about how expencive and possably impossable to gain in 1 event

I think the charges are probably a trade-off for the 20 minute duration. Otherwise, we could be looking at a 1 minute duration with a 2 hour cooldown. And there's already toys with that kind of set-up. I probably won't be in town long enough to get enough candies anyways, but I kind of like the charges with long uptime for a change.

I must have been incredibly unlucky with the candy buckets.
I did EVERY single candy bucket: old world, northrend, outland, pandaria... and ended up with: 301 tricky treats!
it was JUST enough to get both pet cats (they are AWESOME, by the way).

Two days worth of daily's, and doing the HH two days in a row. Also every single candy bucket you can get. That brings me to 373 Candy's. From doing all the dailies, plus smashing the punkin and killing HH I got 18 candy's today. It will take me another 7 - 8 days to get 500 trick or treats.
