According to the latest Dev Watercooler, once you earn flying in Draenor in 6.2 you'll also be awarded a new rylak mount, the "Soaring Skyterror".

We'll be eagerly watching for the next patch, but until then we won't know what the new rylak looks like. It could use a new model, but it's likely it'll use one of the existing ones as there are so many really lovely unused colours!

Assuming it does use an existing model, here are the known options:

Personally I'm hoping for either the non-armoured "taxi" model, or the armoured model variant that lacks the absurd jet engines. The silver is probably my favourite colour, but I'm also rather partial to either black or the red-yellow "chromatic" skin. Actually, I think they should save black for a new garrison stable mount, as Darktide Roost would be a great area to base the quest.

I'm sure we're all crossing our fingers for the one we've wanted since beta.



I mean come on, wouldn't it be the most fitting of all the rylaks? The Chimeara has eluded the residents of Draenor for "years". Even the most experienced trackers haven't had any luck hunting down the creature. But we have to explore the entirety of Draenor to finish the achievement required. Perhaps on one of our adventures we'll finally find the elusive beast?

But I'm not keeping my hopes up. I'd also be thrilled with a silver, black or crimson rylak as well - armored or unarmored.

Yeah, so far is seems they want to reserve that model for some other place (or maybe they scrapped it but that would be criminal!).

I like mine with the rockets on the side better. =D

@lupen - i hope its either that or the dark blue with green eyes or the white one that flys in shadowmoon.. they all look good XD

ive already got the 100 treasure *found 200* explored draenor fully.. man im missing 4 quests for the Soaring Skyterror : mok'gol,darktide roost,skettis,broken precipice.. cant seem to get them after daily *and the buyable bonus ones* >.<

by any chance, is it going to be an *all wod content flying mount* or just tanaan jungle?

It should work for all of Draenor, to my understanding of how the achievement will work come 6.2.x (while the achievement will be in 6.2 to award Skyterror, we won't get actual flying til a smaller patch after 6.2).

Also, if you're still missing some of the assault quests, you can buy them for garrison resources for 100-200 resources (I forget which). Just talk to the npc who triggers your invasions and whatnot I didn't know this til yesterday and bought the remaining 6 I needed and finished them up in about 2.5 hrs, ish? There was a lot of people doing the same thing I was, so it slowed me down lol

I really want that reptilian Chimaera, that looks *awesome*. But I'd also like to see the silver rylak (armored or unarmored) as a beast to fly on. It'd match my rylak pet perfectly lol

HEY! I love my jet-powered rylak mount and hunter pet!!!
If only they'd make a battle pet rylak that matches now, I'd be all set.

but come on... jet engines!!! I mean.. how cool is that?
it would be nice if it made my pet come hurtling back to me after a kill rather than sitting atop the corpse meditating on the meaning of life and death and last night's reruns of Breaking Bad.

I'm with you Wain, I tend to prefer the mounts without a lot of armor (though I do genuinely love the engines on the rylak). I think it would be great to get a plain model just to have some variety. I really love when they release both an unarmored and adorned version of mounts so there's an option.

There's a new PTR build being deployed today, right? I'm curious to see if the meta will show up along with the mount.

Yup! It's the model known as "ChromaticChimera" in the database, though the mount itself doesn't look "chromatic" any more. Love it

Its wings are yellow at least. That's something different to the others!

Oh I love that one! It's been a huge sorrow for me not to have that skin as a hunter pet, so having it as a mount is really a joy. I'm sorry you can't see it though, Suku.

I'm glad he got in the game though, that was my favorite skin, after the white/silver rylak.
