Please.. just "marriage"... it's not "gay marriage".

I know you mean well, and I'm not criticizing you for your post (which is great).
But the sooner we stop calling it "gay marriage" the sooner it will be seen as perfectly ordinary.

It's a decision for marriage equality. That's what it is. The court has ruled that ALL Americans deserve the protection of the constitution, not just some Americans.

And a great day, giving the United States back some of the lustre it has lost in recent years.

I watched a video of people waiting outside the SCOTUS for the decision, and the emotional eruption when it was announced was almost too much to bear. I had tears in my eyes, despite not being an American. It was a proud moment. There is hope.

So happy. Finally.

I'm so happy for the USA. Australia is so far behind now, I'm ashamed of what we've become.

The Australian people are more up-to-date than the Australian parliamentarians.

Honestly, if we had the government we have now back in 2005, Canada would not have been among the first countries to have marriage equality. Politicians often don't perfectly represent the electorate.

I just can't believe the day has finally come where it's legal everywhere in the US. It should have happened sooner but I'm still incredibly happy. I'm not LGBT+ myself, but I've always been supportive and while there is still a lot of work to do this is a huge step in the right direction. Progress is still progress and it's lovely to see.

There will always be bigots, sadly. Religious and nonreligious. Hell, racism is still rampant in plenty of areas as many people know all too well. It'll be a long time before LGBT+ people can truly feel safe, but at least the bigots are the minority now.

This is the land of the free and it's about time society upholds that.

America, you did good and imma let you finish, but New Zealand had the best gay marriage legalisation of all time.
