He should make for some good story interaction amongst the lore characters. I wonder what Maiev is going to think of this, though, and all the Ashtongue.

I hope we kill Maiev. She hunted Illidan when he was allowed to be free by the elves. She also tried to murder Malfurion. So she's not my favorite person.

I do remember Metzen wanting Illidan to have a redemption story. This expansion is gonna be great if this is what it is.

I just hope that he doesn't go killing Gul'dan right off, the way that Garrosh killed off whatsisname, that Bronze dragon who helped him escape.

If I recall correctly Maiev was one of the characters who "went crazy/did a massive heel turn" -hence trying to kill Malfurion - which seems so common in WoW. I also wonder what they are going to do with her now. I really hope they don't kill off Illidan as part of his redemption, as in sacrificing himself or something to that effect. This story has a lot of potential if they handle it well.

Maiev was crazy from the start, imho.

As super uninspired as I think bringing him back to begin with is I guess it's a nice change of pace that he's not a bad guy.

I second the hope he doesn't sacrifice himself thing, I want him to still be there after legion, maybe they do something like he tries to sacrifice himself as in give his lifeforce or something to seal the gateway in the tomb of sargeras and some brilliant fellow ( maybe his brother or Tyrande or an adventurer ) has the good idea to swap Illidan with Maiev the crazy bitch nobody likes at the last minute by throwing her in the middle of Illidan's sealing spell and having her life drained instead ( if you recall WC3 when Illidan sealed the outland portals it looked like a stream of drain life so this is why I assume it will be the same this time )

I really hope Illidan doesn't martyr himself that would SUCK.

Ehh.. I'm not sure that makes him a 'good guy'.

I'm thinking it's going to be a lot of the "Enemy of my enemy is my friend" Thing.

Illy's gonna be pissed at the legion and will hunt them, not for 'good' but because Frak them! That's why!! He hates 'them' more than he hates 'us.'. I don't see us having him on a leash, and him just being forgiven for all.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE <3 Illidan has been one of my absolute favorite characters since I played the original Warcraft and I always saw his character as a fallen hero which is beautiful in my opinion (I know there are other fallen hero characters, but Illidan's character seemed more justifiable to me if you know what I mean which made me really feel for him) so it's a nice surprise to see their making him "good"

Pop has a slight tendency of stating her ideas as if they were confirmed details ;P So I'm guessing it's not confirmed. There's no way they'd announce that at this stage.

If we do redeem Illidan, I hope he keeps his edge. He always was one to keep an eye on, even as a friend.

Sadly we don't know how much(if any) of the story will take place in-game. The 'World of Warcraft: Illidan' announcement was focused on the march release of the book.
