It's time for a new holiday tradition! With all the Winter Veil holiday cheer and gift-giving in the air, I thought I would host a fun competition after being inspired by another WoW forum.

So without further ado, I present the

⚔ FIRST ANNUAL WINTER VEIL CAROLING COMPETITION! ⚔

✵ Overview ✵

✺ Create a Warcraft-ified version of any real world Christmas or winter holiday carol, song, or story!
✺ You are highly encouraged (but not required) to make this carol/song/story relevant to the current expansion, Warlords of Draenor!
✺ The contest will end on January 6th of the new year, upon when first, second, and third-place winners will be determined!


✵ Rewards ✵

✺ 1st place wins a custom character doodle and a choice of one of the following pets: Cinder Pup, Grumpling, Left Shark, and Ore Eater!
✺ 2nd place wins a custom character doodle and a choice from the three remaining pets.
✺ 3rd place gets to choose from the two remaining pets after that.


✵ Rules ✵

✺ One entry per person, but you may edit your submission up until the 6th.
✺ Entries must be primarily based off of a real-world carol, song, or story.
✺ Include a screenshot or armory link of the character you would like me to make a doodle of, should you win first or second place!
✺ If your chosen character is a hunter, you may also include a screenshot or image of one hunter pet you would also like me to draw!


Don't expect commission-worthy art for the 1st or 2nd place drawing. It will just be a doodle similar to these ones I made a while back.
Hopefully enough people participate to make this contest worthwhile... in the meantime, good luck and happy holidays!

Well... since no one as entered so far, I figured I would post my own entry from the contest that inspired this one.
I call it "Call of the Archmage", and it's to the tune of Good King Wenceslas.


Archmage Khadgar first look'd out
On the lands of Draenor
When the orcs sieged all about
In a savage manner
Brightly shone K'ara that night
For Velen had no fear
When a hero came in sight
Looking to get gear


"Hither, mage, and stand by me
I need your help with killing
Yonder Gul'dan - can you see?
I'll give you this sweet ring."
"Sure, it's no challenge for me
Our forces soon be 'round him
I've been raiding since MC
Inside Blackrock Mountain."


"Bring me stones and bring me tomes
Bring me crystals hither
Thou and I will see him die
And see his fel bones wither"
Mage and ten friends forth they went
They cleared their way through all
Past Blackhand's iron torment
And the besieged Highmaul


"Sire, the fights are harder now
And the bosses stronger
Clear HFC, I know not how,
I can go no longer."
"Take my portals, my good mage
Jump into them boldly
Thou shalt find these demons' cries
Freeze thy blood less coldly."


Through Khadgar's portals they flew
Where the Black Gate waited
Gul'dan and now Archimonde
Were no match for their group.
Mythic or just LFR
Now all the raiders see
Yrel, Grom, and good Khadgar
Shouting "DRAENOR IS FREE!"

I'm using Wenceslas too, but I'm not finished. I was going to do Fa-fa-fa-fa Fa-fahralon, but it was sounding unintentionally bitter.

Aww, this is a fabulous idea! Sorry I only just saw it, though my creative juices are low and I doubt I'd be able to come up with something to enter.

Unfortunately it's probably bad timing, with a lot of people away for the holidays, plus the Beta is on hiatus so fewer people are checking this site
