Just wanting to know why did you make a Hunter?
After recently getting hacked and having all my characters wiped and waiting 2 weeks to get them back (lvled a 16 druid while waiting) I pretty much just have full t9 and a bit of pvp gear and no pets and was wanting to see if I still had the spark for my hunter to replace all that was lost.

I love the class' uniqueness, you can't beat shooting people in the face with rifles!Besides, my old GM played one, and she always said I should try one.

I have always been a ranger type in every game I've ever played. Be it a distance with a gun or a bow I always have.. That and in SWG I was a creature tamer.. I love having a companion animal at my side like a permanent friend

ever since I was a kid I dreamed if being a scout, a robin hood type guy with a wolf. Then it became ranger and I allways played one in allmost all RPs. Then It was hunter in wow with MANY different animal companions. Now I play wow and I am a Certified military police K9 handler. Hows that for dreams coming true.

Nice, well this is pretty much making me want to continue my hunter and get him back into ICC after that dang hacker sold all my stuff and destroyed nearly everything I have. So, pretty much making my 80 mage/dk alts and if i do continue to lvl my 16 druid it will be in cat.

Because I ignored my friends advice.
WOW was my first MMO and I didn't know anything about it accept my friends liked it. They played human paladins and told me they would teach me how to play one because it was the best class in game because they could fight and heal themselves. I got the game, created a human paladin, my friends created two more human paladins to help level with me...and I hated it every step of the way as I got to level 12.
I admitted to my friends that I hated the toon and they said just wait a little longer because things got better at level 20 and there was a free mount waiting for me down the road.
I said I didn't care and was going to try something else. And that something else was a hunter because during that grueling time I became interested in them and how their pets worked from watching the occasional one that wondered into Elwynn.
So I rolled a NE had an enjoyable time getting her to 10 and getting a pet to work with and never looked back.

Simple. I liked the collecting aspect with the pets. When I first played WoW, I tried a shaman, didn't like it too much. Then I rolled a hunter. When I realized the options for the pets, I was hooked.
This was back before I found Petopia, and I wondered around finding new and exciting pets as I leveled up. I still do it, whenever I level a new hunter. I simply HAVE to wonder around, taming rare, special, or just remote pets, simply for the fact that I enjoy it.
God help me when we get expanded stable slots...

After being a druid for a while and really only being able to heal at the time I wanted to play with ranged fighting but most especially to have the ability to fight alongside pets. It's great to quest as a hunter as you always have a companion with you. Running about with pets as a hunter has a different feel to it than when you are a warlock as you choose your pet rather than have them assigned to you and I quite liked that. I also love creatures, art and animation so hunters, druids and warlocks appeal to me greatly as they offer much more variety visually.

My first toon was a hunter. My Gf at the time suggested I play a hunter as this was my first time playing wow back then.

Well, to be honest with you I went into WoW knowing absolutely nothing about the game! I knew it was an MMORPG...and that's all I knew. My mate who I played RS withstarted playing it and sent me an IM on MSN (might of been WLM now I think about it...) with the link and the first character I ever made on Khadgar was a Gnome mage and my two friends whom I played RS with and their friend were hunters. So in the group there were 3 hunters and a mage (We actually used to run DM, all pets would tank with growl and the hunters would mend pet when needed aswell as all dps'ing). Then I got intrigued by how they got pets, so I asked the guy who sent me the link and he told me I had to be a hunter. I was dissapoint! I had got my mage to level 18 (lol) and couldn't be bothered to make a new character as it would take for ages (I really don't like re-doing content, apart from OL! I love OL).
But they convinced me, and I slowly leveled back up to their level and now two of them have quit, one deciding to re-roll a warlock and one leaving before WotLK and the one that got me into the game stopped his hunter at 72 and started playing the priest he made (my mage and his priest were gunna level together) and it's now his main...The one who was moat reluctant to play the hunter class out of 4 friends is hte one who kept with it til the end!

I made a hunter cause my dad was one. I always wanted to be the big geared up hunter like my father when I was too young to play the game. I actually used to fish for his 80 hunter when he went outside for a smoke when I was little. plus the skills, pets and overpoweredness makes it tempting. I love easy classes and I thought it'd be nice to play them. I used to have a level 43 hunter actually, called Brightsuns. She was the 2nd char I ever had, but I deleted her in the end.

You were too small to play the game when your dad was level 80; 1 year or less ago. Or did I misunderstand something?
(Not that I mind you being 12 or whatever just curious)

That's what I thought as well.

For one, I have a thing for archers. Robin Hood is something I adore and the posture people have when they're aiming with a longbow.. *swoon* I've tried it myself IRL and the feeling is just awesome.
Another (quite obvious) reason is the pets. I'm all for the connection between the hunter and their pets and can't get enough of it. Plus who doesn't want to fight with a ferocious lion/bear/insert_beast_here at their side?

I remember trying to make a bow as a kid. It was a miserable failure as the arrows only flew a few feet, lol.

I've shot with rifles, but never with bows. Is it better, in your experience?
