Hunter Changes in Cat I found

I stumbled across this link and I thought I share some of it here..
--Cast Times--
Shots that previously had no cast times (instant), now seem to have cast times displayed. Additionally, Steady Shot seems to have a much lowered cast time. I'm not sure if the shots are actually taking this long to cast or if it's just a tooltip issue. Please note that this is with naked gear and 0 haste rating
--Cast times changed from live to now
- Aimed Shot: .5s cast time - formerly instant (no longer usable while moving) - no cast bar shown
- Arcane Shot: .5scast time - formerly instant (still usable while moving) - no cast bar shown
- Serpent Sting: .5s cast time - formerly instant (still usable while moving) - no cast bar shown
- Kill Shot: .5s cast time - formerly instant (still usable while moving) - no cast bar shown
- Steady Shot: .5s cast time -formerly 2s cast (still not usable by moving) -cast bar shown
--Auto Shot clipping--
Auto shots appear to be clipping again if you're using shots. If you're constantly hitting Steady Shot, it's possible to never get an auto shot off (at least that's what I saw in the combat log). Additionally, auto shots will no longer shoot alongside instant cast shots such as Arcane Shot (right now on Live if I open with an instant, my auto shot will fire at the same time as my special shot). This appears to be a revert back to BC days.

Yeah, I noticed this in the thread. However, Concussive doesn't have a cooldown anymore, so perhaps it's some attempt at balancing PvP?

It put's ALL of our shots on the level of multi-shot, but with some of them still being usable while moving. It isn't AS bad as it could be, but why? I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind even a .5 second cast time. With multi-shot it's because it's a fairly damaging attack on several targets at once, I understand that. This is an odd nerf to us that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And auto-shot clipping is back! What the hell? They JUST fixed that!
This is going to be very obvious, but that's all a pretty heavy PvP nerf, and the auto-shot clipping is a PvP AND a PvE nerf. And concussive not having a cooldown just mean's it a more tactical choice. But Aimed shot not being castable while moving is STUPID.

Another bad attempt to balance pvp and pve. I keep saying they need to have a different talent tree just for pvp and pve.

Actually...*scratches his chin* I am going to sit back and think objectively about this for a moment. Our shots hit harder now. Our shots don't have a cooldown, and instead are limited by our new resource. Arena's are no longer such a major part of the picture, meaning that BG's are taking front and center for PvP again. Movement is still important in BG's, but you have a lot more opportunity to stand still and fire.
With everything kept in mind, the only real problem is auto-shot clipping. It's not as bad as I thought of originally, when you consider the buffs we are getting.

(I have lots more to say (don't I always?) but I'm tired so I'll just leave it at that.)

I know, Sarayana. I'm just trying to be positive about it!

I am extremely nervous about them changing us to focus. I think it's a good thing, but this is Blizzard we are talking about. They never really seem to know what they want to do with hunters.

It may also be a temporary stage as they change other things. For example: last I heard, goblins and worgen can't tame pets yet. Of course they will be able to eventually. But hunters have barely been touched yet, so far as I know.
(I'm not in the alpha and I don't have any sources who are, but I hang out in some of the same places that Adam does, looking for shreds of interesting if possibly untrustworthy information.)

This is true, it could potentially just be a placeholder for the moment. *Scratches his chin* All we can do is sit back and see what happens, I suppose.

hmm cant say atm that i like what i see. Looks like were losing what we have for attacking while mobile. I wonder if there going to to the same to the other ranged dps classes. Would seem unfair to force just 1 ranged dps class to have to stop to attack, while others can fire on the run.

The shammies are actually getting a talent that permits them to keep casting while on the move. It's a large-ish cooldown, so it's not going to be up 100% but it'll help on high mobility fights and, I'd suppose, in PVP.

The only one not usable while moving is Aimed SHot, which is probably in corrolation to Multi-shot not being usable while moving.
And I scratch my chin while I think, or stroke my beard. *Laughs*

As the gnomes say: Hmmm, interesting.
I'm horrible at judging what things are going to be like based on numbers, so I really want to wait until I can test this new system out myself (or at least see someone else testing it on the beta). I remember autoshot clipping sucking hard in BC, but at the same time this is a whole new system we'll be using.
*sits and waits*

It is Alpha, and we have another 6 months at least before launch... the clipping is the only thing that concerns me, that would put us back to the days of shot macros with timing...
