I just discovered that the trinket proc on Oakenheart's Gnarled Root, which is on attack and SPELL CAST, can kill the beast you are trying to tame. It does 171K shadow damage over 6 seconds. I've attempted to tame 2 rares, and both times the trinket proc'd and I got to watch the tames burn to death.

It's a drop from Darkheart Thicket.

It's weird because my first thought was "Huh, why is my tame pet burning them...." The second time it was on a higher level mob and I had time to see the damage debuff. Just an FYI to everyone. I've honestly never had a trinket proc with tame beast before. I almost tamed my spirit bear... it died quickly.

Thanks for the heads up. I honestly laughed at the mental image though, trying to make a new friend and end up incinerating it.

This was happening to me on one of my old raid tier sets. I don't remember what the proc was, but it kept proccing on Tame Beast and outright killed any lower level beast I was trying to tame. Took me a while to figure out what it was. I had to start unequipping my helmet to tame.
