I don't know if anyone else came across this, but I found an area where there are a bunch of felslate basalisks that just exist as normal mobs. We thought before that they only appeared as a spawn from mining, right?

If there are a bunch sitting out in the open, there might be a mining world quest in the area.

It's possible - I didn't notice any obvious nodes, but I'm no miner.

That's interesting. I saw them spawn in a pack at that location during the beta, but never again. I thought maybe it had been a glitch. My guess is Kalliope is right and it's a mining world quest point, but I'm unsure. :/

The basilisks ARE the nodes for those quests.

I'm pretty sure that is one of the locations for the mining quest. There's another near the ghost wedding in Azshara too. They're not always up, of course, but that's a good option for non-mining hunters.

Any idea what the mining world quest is up? I guess it won't be visible on the map unless the Hunter is a miner, even though they can see the mobs if they go there?

The mining quest that's up right now is Work Order: Leystone over in Stormheim. I haven't seen this one up, but then again I haven't really been looking. I can keep an eye out for whenever it does pop up.

I'll have to double check what the name is, but I can confirm that those are part of the Mining World Quest. I completed that earlier today. I hadn't seen this one up before either prior to today, but definitely is a World Quest for mining. It was up the same time as one in Stormheim (which was just a turn-in so many Leystone).

Correct!

It's sort of like how the pet battle WQs don't always display for a character (Kalli can't see them, but KB can -_- ), but you can go over and interact with them anyway.

There are also Leystone Basilisks available for some of the mining quests. I actually think the one I was talking about in Azsuna featured the purple ones, not the green! The world quest which is currently up in Val'sharah is (appropriately) called Leystone Basilisks.

I ended up swapping my profession from enchanting to mining JUST to get this tame on my ally hunter... sadly the damn withered from the WQ killed the first one that spawned for me.

Best bet: go to north of Felsoul Hold, kill the "Felhide" basilisks, and mine away... I've gotten two to spawn within an hour, no reason to go gallivanting everywhere looking for a Felslate Deposite, true it may take a little bit, but you aren't going far. Still does require mining to obtain of course.
