I just want to emphasize that this is a limited edition pet ONLY, as you (understandably) cannot repeat this scenario.

Well... saw this AFTER I did the scenario today so I'm out of luck Didn't even think to check if they were tamable or a unique color. boo.

Hopefully that colour will become available elsewhere too. There are more mana wyrms in instances and out in the world that currently aren't tameable, but hopefully they will be.

Actually, now I'm thinking about it, does anyone have access to the Arcway dungeon so they can check if the Mana Wyrms in there are now tameable? They weren't last time I checked on the Beta, but that was before they added the progression restriction for getting in.

I checked when I was in there last (which was... a week and a half ago, now) and they were not. I haven't been back since because the gauntlet ability the last boss does makes me super duper nauseous, and I've been lucky enough to not proc an Arcway keystone so far. So unless they've been stealth-hotfixed (can that be done, I wonder? hotfixing a tameable flag, I mean) they are not.

I'm coming up on 20k Nightfallen in the next couple days—good to know I should keep an open stable slot when I do. I probably would have abandoned my core hound to pick it up, but I'd rather not go through the trouble of picking up another one later, haha.

Any tips here? Whenever I try to tame one the NPCs just one-shot the mana wyrms.

Yeah tried that. They like to assist me with whatever I'm doing it seems. This is the same reason I don't use a bodyguard.

Edit: I got it by binding shot on the pack of mobs they're in and just getting lucky. Kept trying until I got one. You can leave the scenario and restart if they all die (I'm not sure if there's more later in the scenario, these ones are right when you begin).

Congrats! Restarting the scenario is such a great idea! The ones near the entrance are likely the easiest to reach, if not the only ones. I seem to recall it only being cats later. (Not sure if they're tamable; I didn't check.)

Double checked since I was in there today; the cats are the dark blue mana sabers, 110 non-elites called Mana Hunters, and have diets but are not tameable. Those spawn in both "tower defense" sections (for lack of a better phrase) in packs of 4-6. The manawyrms are only in that very first phase. I got mine in a similar way—pulled with binding shot, NPCs killed the first one I tried to tame but then they went after the nightborne NPC that was with the wyrms and left the second one I cast tame beast on alone long enough to get the cast off. Hooray!

What I did -

Pull one of the Nightborne patrolling the area with something weak (there's one lonesome one to the left right as you enter that's perfect). The NPCs will attack it.

Immediately run into the group of mana wyrms and start tame beast on one. If the NPCs somehow kill the Nightborne, the chances of them targeting the one mana wyrm you're taming is reduced by having all of them on you as well as the two nightborne that will aggro with the wyrms.

If you fail for some reason, you can always abandon the quest, hearth to Shal'Aran and try again.

Also, for those worried: This also requires defeating Xavius in the Emerald Nightmare and completing the previous "A Growing Crisis" questline, so a lot of people will have to wait until October 25th when he's available in LFR. So don't stress about overlooking them if you are one of the people waiting for LFR to do Xavius.
