I been tinking for some time now dat dere should be some incentive ta all de great writin we got in dis here board. So wit dat in mind I gots a contest for yas,

It goes like dis, Come up with a opening sentence, someting dat you tink will capture our imaginations and really hook us in

"As he weakened, Charles grew afraid of his daughters."
"As last thoughts go, "Unicorns are real!" is a pretty good one."
"But if it's orange, how will we get the wheels on?" Tomas was prone to wondering...

Tink em up and post in on dis here thread, ya can always edit it later if yas tinks of a better one. Den on 6/18 I and a few utta judges will pick de three dat are de ones we want to see more of (if we get more den three really amazing entries we might bump it upwards)

Dese three will have till de end of de moth to come up with a longer version of de story usin dat same opening sentence. Could be a page to a book, totally up ta yas how long it is to get ya vision out dere. Dis time de entire guild will vote on de favorite story.... winna gets 1000 gold coins (long as dey on Nesingwary o course, Horde/Alliance whateva I can get yas de money)

As the dagger glanced off her eye with its owner fully emerging out of the shadows, Nystindra knew in the back of her mind that today was not going to end well.
"Ya see, sometimes we haf'a give a bit o' ourselves to get someting greater mon," the troll muttered more to her drink than to the curious onlooker as she tapped the eyepatch over her left eye.

As the lion slowly stepped out of the tall grass with a low growl, eye glittering hungrily, all the young Draenei could think as he locked eyes with the large cat and took a few quick steps back was 'I knew I shoulda' stayed in bed today...'

He was hunched over the desk, looking like a long-forgotten hermit in that curvature of the library, dusty books towering overhead with shadowy remnants of the past - the darkened remains of the frothy ale long since forgotten in his haste to devour the quill-borne words within, looking for all the world like a man of graceful scholarship and concentration - and not the raging maniacal beast borne of hell and high water that had once beaten her and her mother to bloodied disgrace whenever his nightmares wrenched his soul back to the War of the Shifting Sands...

Something I haven't gotten around to writing due to work and various other worries ongoing. But still, thought I'd post it and see how I go =3

"I don't think that's what you're supposed to use pungent seal whey for," he said in disgust.

There was no way out of it now... he was in an abandonded barn with the udead closing in on him. He closed his eyes and he hoped. Then he hear a howl from within his head. The howl of a worgen...

"If you think I will show you mercy after you raped my daughter and buchered my wife, your delusions know no bounds" Kyron growled, holding the bloody claymore in his powerful hands.

Frantically she dug through the dirt - damp and black it clung underneath her now bleeding fingernails - her thoughts raced as she glanced skyward at the full moon. "Where is it!?" she whispered in a frenzy her eyes darting back and forth.. Then her nails scratched the wooden surface! Brushing the dirt away she looked down at the red cross engraved upon the front of the old coffin. Weathered and beaten it had laid in the cool ground for some time her eyes focused with glee "I found you..." she whispered in a haunting voice.

-"You're aware that she's been dead for the last three years, right?" She asked her companion.

-"Go away!" She screamed at him, lashing out with magic. Flames crackled around her, and he retreated, looking sadly at his daughter.

-"And I would watch that bird if I were you," The goblin said. "She bites."

-She woke up in a dark cell, so horribly familiar. She had sent many others here, in this cell. In this building. "No, no, no! I didn't want this! No! NO!" She tried to quell the feral instinct that rose in her, looking frantically for her sister, calling her name. "Tykell! Ty! Oh Ty, help me! Ty!" And the worgen side of her just snickered from deep within.

"His heart nearly stopped as the sharp wind whisked inches from his cheek. The object landed with a thud behind him, and as he turned to get a glimpse of what had nearly decapitated him, a sharp pain gripped his left shoulder, and two beady eyes watched steadily from the brush."

"You have no right to call yourself a druid, or even kaldorei!" The voice would have been harsh, and the words biting, if I had even cared. The sound of my tongue running across my lips drowned out her next words, the sandpaper like texture making a wonderful grating noise. This was getting too boring for me, I could feel the urge to hunt again rising up in my chest. It was possible to end this rant here and now...

Out here on the prairie, it's nothing unusual to see the eye-shine from some animal reflecting back at you from the ditch beside the highway. Somewhere between White Lake and Salem and a long ways yet from home, she saw the vividly blue eye-shine of what must have been a large animal, from the height and spacing of those cerulean flashes. Nothing unusual, at night. But this was 3:30 on an October afternoon.

(Yes, it would be WoW related...what has glowing blue eyes? )

EDIT: In case there's someone who doesn't know what I mean by eye-shine, it's the reflection off an animal's eyes when light hits them in the dark. Like so:

That's never a good sound to here behind you, it's never a good sound to hear in front of you either. I wish I hadn't heard that sound...to late.
