I do NOT like the looks of that one bit. It doesn't make sense (murderous boar farm? what is that?) and makes me worried about Mulgore.

Oh yeah, I saw that.
My initial thought was "DAMN, those pigs are ready for war!"

Yeah I know... But at least it explains the gate. If they've had to deal with intruders and betrayal by the Horde leadership, it makes sense to me that the Tauren would try to shut out the world.
I changed the title of the post to be less spoilerish and include a warning, btw. Sorry if anyone wanted to avoid that. >.>

It's the carcasses isn't it? Makes them seem all kinds of brutal, meat-eating pigs...

I think the new gate has to do more with keeping the Alliance out of Mulgore. It's the only home they have left and I'm sure as hell they will not the Alliance take it.
I dunno, maybe the Taurens boiling point is reached with this, so perhaps either them or the orcs are training battle boars. Maybe the meat we see here is the corpses of Alliance, to give the boars a taste of Alliance blood. -shrugs-
Or Garrosh has screwed up again.
.........OR the Quilboars are training them. =D That's possible.

I can't speak for other Tauren players, but yeah, the rumor of Garrosh bumping off Cairn is definitely a flash point. The bones are probably Garrosh's...

I see huge curled thorns in the background where the exit of the starting zone resides and that makes me think Quilboars. Before the NDA came through, the shots of Mulgore/Barrens/Thousand Needles Lift showed that the Quilboars had moved outwards and had grown considerably larger as a population. This seems to reek of their turf expanding into the Tauren's starting village, and their pet boars appear to have been 'upgraded' to their main protection source rather than just there to be hunted for food and materials. But given the status of RFD/RFK in the expansion, whether or not they remain as is, I'm actually quite glad to see the armored boars into a more accessible standpoint rather than smack-bang in a dungeon.
Of course, the next question is, will a player with a flying mount be able to swoop in, tame and get outta there without attracting the least bit of attention? *chuckles*

Well a if player who has a flying mount finds it hard to tame one of those boars in the dungen then they are not very good :S but i do think thats just the cow starting zone like you do.

I guess beating them up in RFK and RFD didn't slow them down much.

my thoughts are Quilboar
they take the whole lvl 1-5 area from mulgore as I remember
and that models armor looks like the ones in RFK/RFD
poor cows getting owned by those Pigs

Mmm now that you guys mention it, I agree that it's the starting area. I couldn't place it... Makes sense if it's the Quilboar, I suppose. I like the idea of the tauren training battle boars to eat Garrosh as revenge though.

With the fence there and all, my first thought when I saw that pic was that it was just a farm, especially with the Tauren tents so close by.
Still, them being 'upgraded' battle boars belonging to the Quillboar would also make sense.
As for a big gate at the entrance to Mulgore, it'd just be a sensible thing to do. Remember that the Alliance will have a presence in the southern Barrens after Deathwing does his thing. So far, Mulgore has been relatively isolated, having the whole big Barrens as a sort of buffer zone. With Camp Taurajo gone, the Tauren will pretty much have Alliance outside their front door.

Looks to me like Agamaggan has some nasty descendants down there with the Quillboar people... o.O

Yeah, right behind the pin are thorns, so presumably they're quilboar boars. :P
