Just wondering if anyone else gets insulting PMS form other hunters and people for not haveing a fancy skin or rare pet. As i get quite alot of it. Things like "oh dude why do you have a lame white plainstrider when you could have a clucthmother" these useally would not bother me but they pile up and too in the long run i happen to love my white plainstirder and my black buzzard from mulgore I would not trade them for any other skin.

I thougt i should make this thread as theres heaps about rare skins and not for non rare ones and not to be mean to others but the most mean people to talk to me about my skins have been BM hunters Most ones i seem to meet act like they are the "best" hunter spec as they get exotics and us non ones get the "shit" pets :S

Anyone here have this happen to them?

My poor wolfy got dissed once. She's a white wolf from Ashenvale, since I never saw that many people with the old wolf model. Most of them either have a Blighthound, the War Hound from Ramps or a Northrend Worg. Someone ranted on me for not having a Northrend Worg (I'm not too fond of their model.)

Shadow also got dissed a bit... Someone went on about how Humars model is no longer unique. :<

I have had this happen to me in randoms. Usually it is about Oroburus, my ironhide devilsaur. I get asked why I'm using him instead of Mosh or Krush as if they are better then any of the others. My usual responce to this kind of thing is very simple. All of the pets of that family have the same stats the only diffence is looks, and I like this look better. Usually I get a nice responce back, but I do get some itiots as well. To them I simply state that if they don't like the pet I'm using because of it's skin then they can pay for my account or shut up since obviously they have no idea about the class.

I've never personally had anyone ever insult me or berate me because of my choices in hunter pets so I can only imagine the level of frustration you must feel from something like this.

I guess most players have gotten so used to the idea of hunters only seeking out rare and exotic pet skins that they sometimes are taken back when they encounter any hunter that holds this theory to the contrary. You should take pride in the fact that you are not just another cookie-cutter replica of the same hunters that feel it is their right to dictate the way other people should play the game.

I can't tell you the number of hunters I've seen lounging about in Dalaran these days with a Skoll, King Krush, or Loque'nahak by their side! Even though these pets are awesome in their own right, the constant exposure makes them somewhat less awe inspiring if you really think about it. When it comes right down to it, ironically, some of the most commonly skinned pets make for some of the rarest tames!

I've heard people mock BM hunters for using an Exotic, actually. Apparently those pets 'suck'.

Maybe not exactly for not having a rare pet, but I do get a lot of grief for having a Felpaw Wolf.. WTF? It's like people think it can't fight as well as other wolves just because its undead! What the heck?! I have a wolf, isn't that enough?! Why do I NEED one of those stupid Northrend Wolves, or Blighthounds, or War Hounds?! I even got this sorta thing back buring the Burning Crusade era; a guildie was patronizing for my "mangy" wolf! Like, jeez, can't a girl get a break?! Either I get yelled at for not using my wolf, or I get yelled at for what kinda of wolf that I use! Argh! >.<

Well, back in BC, wolves weren't that great...

Pfft, like that even mattered at that point, the guy was yelling at me for how my pet LOOKED. It had nothing to do with how good wolves were at the time, he even had the nerve to tell me I should have tamed one of the diseased BEARS from Felwood/Plaguelands instead of my Felpaw Wolf!

Never for not having an exotic, but almost always for using one. Even when I'm not in raids, I get whisps sayind, "Cool looking pet, but why would you want a pet you can't raid with."

There is no satisfying the haters. They're gonna hate as much as they draw air to breathe. Of course, one wishes for something to garrotte them with so that they choke on their own blood, but that's just me when I run out of patience with 'em...

and mostly people start QQing when i go Bm in hc's

In TotC once (the 5 man dungeon) back when I only had BM spec I was using a wolf and I think the tank said to me "omfg huntard, if you're going to be BM at least use an exotix pet. Wolves suck" IRL, I facepalmed then I explained to him the two buffs a wolf has that increases my RAP and then linked them [Call of the Wild] and [Furious Howl].

The pet I was using was the Ramparts wolf as well, and at the time, he was a fairely rare pet on our server. I had only ever seen one person with him before I got him (and seeing the tamed wolf I remembered the post on Petopia/Mania) and even to this day I rarely see the wolf around.

Haha I made a thread about this. Had a guy try to kick me from a group because I had the "Timberwolf" model pet and aparently its weaker then the Northrend woarg models lol

I ignore it all now.. and if someone questions me on a Trex in raid, I'll dare them to do the dps comparison. One mention of Elitist Jerks usually shuts them up. same thing for when I'm using the tanking gun.

I do think some of us fall into a trap though, taming pets because they are rare instead of because we really like them and they happen to be rare. It started as finding something unique, and transformed into "if it's not a unique rare elite I don't want it".. we need to step away from that cliff.

I can't say I ever have... But I'm not surprised. People really seem to think they have the right to dictate other people's play-time. I'm with Dulanie; tell them that when they're paying for your account they can tell you how to play the game.

You know its slowing turning into that you will get dissed for not haveing an exotic or uber rare nowadays. I'm not likeing where its going i could see cata being full of non rare/exotic hate.

I am so thankful for my boring, friendly server. We have our elitists but really, people are kind and friendly. Some of these stories just make me terrified of trying out other servers. >.>

Yeah, Cenarion Circle is pretty good as well. Lots of people using various of things. I've seen corehounds, panthers, dragonhawks, wind serpents, spiders....Then again I prefer instancing on my druid.
