Do you like? After Devilsaurs, Hyenas are my favorite pet. Boring I know but I enjoy them. I am 50/50 on whether to tame a Scarlet Tracking Hound or go after Giggler. I love both skins and having Giggler would be nice (if only just for me).

So I was just wondering, for other Hyena lovers (and even if you aren't) what is your favorite skin of them all. Not just these two. And any success stories would be fun too.

Tracking hound! I love mine, Sergeant. He was my pet from 37 to 70, then I let him go for a while because of the neck - picked him back up at 78 or so I believe and I'm never getting rid of him.
I love all hyenas, even with the funky neck. They have so much personality.

Hmm, that's a tough one as those are my 2 favourite skins for them. x)

Perhaps go with Giggler? I love that white colouration, and I don't see any white hyenas for some reason but I always see the red ones.

I really like hyenas... except for in the wild in southern barrens as I have too many memories of getting chased down and harassed by those guys. >_< When it comes to color I pretty much like them all, it's hard to pick. I'd say if I were to get one again it would be based on my mood or character at the time.. and right now the one that feels the most fitting is the "black" skin. I like the grizzled grey look and contrasting light spots on dark brown. Seems like a tough fella.

The black and white ones are a special favorite because ever since seeing them I have always felt like they were out of place, as though they were plucked from an old cartoon and dropped into a colored world.

The vibrant color of the red one is really nice, that must be one of the reasons for it being so popular asides from being SM only. It's very richly colored and stands out well from a distance. It probably also hits a spot for me because it has a light contrast of orange spots to boot... I like orange. :p

I'd go with the scarlet.

I have giggler on one of my characters, and the scarlet on another and I like them both I also like the orange ones and if you want a rare, go for murderous blisterpaw, in tanaris. Those are my 3 favorite colors.

I love my hyena, Meza. Picked her up in SM after three days of work getting groups together with the purpose of taming one and not being able to twice, once because two people said it wasn't ok with them when I asked one more time right before the boss because they were skinners (?), and then again by a warlock kill mid tame because "it could drop a green." I would never trade her for anything and she is my favorite pet. ^_^

If you like Giggler I would suggest picking him up though, you don't see him very often at all and his skin could be going away come Cata entirely. If it doesn't feel right and you two don't click it is far easier to get a Scarlet Tracking Hound to replace him than camping his spawn point.

I love the hyena! The attack sounds are the best I love how they run back to you after a kill, so cute my favorite is plain old yellow hyena from the barrens.

I like both the red and the black skins a lot. Which color I'd pick would probably depend on which meshes better with my hunter.

Those are my two favourite skins!! But I chose a Scarlet Tracking Hound as my first Hyena, when we only had 3 stable slots! (Rocked around with my Wolf, my Cat and my trusty Hyena). I've decided to pick up Giggler on my baby hunter though, I just love him too much. =)

But t's a VERY tough call, I love them both so much. <3 I'd have to go with the red one though, since he was my first. =)

The scarlet ones are really gorgeous. I had one for a while on my hunter alt, before I found Hayoc, and really loved it. Once she can afford another stable slot I know it's the skin I'll be re-taming I've found that black and white pets in the game are often too muted by the ambient lighting to be as 'pretty' as the really colorful ones (sadly this is the case for Hayoc too), at least to me.

I'm that kind of hyena lover who gets angry when others say stuff around the lines "they must be canines cos they look kind of like dogs" :S i do oh so love them.

I'm so in a toss up still but I'm finally high enough to tame both Giggler and the Scarlet Tracking Hound. I think I will try the Scarlet one and SEE if I like it (because they are relatively easy to get to since they aren't going anywhere) otherwise Giggler will be mine. NO ONE seems to have Hyenas at all.

They really do have personality. I adore the sound they make when you send them out and with their round ears and eyes they are just too cute.

Glad I'm not the only Hyena lover out there. XD

I'm fairly certain Hyena's are Felines, much similar to Mongooses, no?

I love the scarlet ones the best. They have such pretty pelt colors. Some of them subtle.

Mongoose isn't feline, nor is Hyena; hyenas are just hyenas. I like the red one myself, and the white too--I'd guess if you can't decide, pick whatever matches your hunter best!

I tried them again today and liked them, nice damage and ability, but I forgot how terrible the model and skins are in the end, very enlarged, so sort of sloppy looking I love them overall but I don't know if I could actually have one as my main pet now that the model is goofy!

They are related to Felines... My bad. They are under the Feliformia Sub order along with all felines, So while my statement holds to be only partially true, the point is that they are in fact closer to Felines than Canines.

Also: "Although hyenas bear some physical resemblance to canids, they make up a separate biological family that is most closely related to Herpestidae (the family of mongooses and meerkats), thereby falling within the Feliformia."

Another possible reason Hyena are mislabled as Canines/Canids is because people often wrongly assume or think they know that Jackal and Hyena are the same thing, which is false, as Jackal ARE true Canids.
