I remember seeing this topic before, but I can't seem to find it and only saw it during the period that it was still up in the air. With level scaling, rares and some other mobs were above the player's level. Is this still a thing and if so, does it affect our ability to tame rare mobs while, say, leveling a new hunter?

From what I understand, hunters can now tame beasts a couple levels higher than them, so the new scaling shouldn't affect taming!

From my testing on the PTR I found I could tame level-scaling creatures that were a couple of levels higher than me, but not mobs that were higher but not scaling. Like, I couldn’t tame level 112 mobs that are flagged tameable. My guess is that they now compare your level to the scaling creature’s base level, rather than the level it appears to you.

Someone on Twitter said they were still experiencing scaling mobs as too high to tame right at the end of the PTR so there may still be some issues I haven’t seen.

As far as the older rares and such, I can answer that they do scale to the world. I did a bit of hunting on a trial and other servers that I have 110s on and my level 71 Hunter now has a Skoll (73), Lightning Fox (which already scaled and was 71), and Arcturis (73). As for my out-leveled the zone toons, the Northrend rares appeared at 82.
