PVP Hunter Pets that aren't super squishy?

Oh man, I tried Southshore vs Tauren mill today and just like the 'Epic BGs' hunter pets are super squishy. I've tried several different kinds now and so far none seem to have fared better than any others. I've tried the Bufo frog, a spirit beast, raptor, dog, turtle, quillen, core hound.

Would using a scale hide work?

Tenacity ones are going to be less squishy:

(Or you can use the filter buttons on the Petopia home page)

Also, if you go to the pet abilities page, you can see spec cross-referenced with different pet family abilities:

So, Tenacity pets that have dodge or defense family abilities, or maybe the triggered defense that occurs when they get low on health, are probably going to be the least squishy.

So, Beetles, (Krolusks - not in yet), Turtles, Dragonhawks, Feathermanes, Toads, Bears, Oxen and Quilen. In addition, Clefthooves (while not Tenacity) have an exotic armour ability as well as having the triggered defense thing.

Other than that, you may just have to wait till you gear up in BfA for your pet to survive for a more satisfactory amount of time.

I would look for a cunning pet that has a specialized armor ability. That increase to run speed can help with some escapability.

Well I tried one of the scalehides. It was only slightly less squishy but it's size I think hindered any benefit it got from being tankier. I'll see if there aren't any cunning pets with armor. Don't think I've tried that yet.

Mechanicals are probably your best bet.
