I've had ticket reply from a GM confirming that the Tome of Hybrid Beasts is now impossible to get for new or returning hunters if they have not already obtained the Power Ascended achievement. They also did not know if this is something that will be addressed at a later date.

I was able to purchase it on my hunter that hit 110 last week just fine.

From what I was told, the requirement is now Legion Flying. Though it could be like the class hall pets/toys and the requirement be the class mount quest complete on that toon.

It should still be this, my friend got the Tome last week just fine as well.

The Class mount is likely still a requirement. It was before when that was new and current content. I imagine it still is.

I hope to complete the requirements for the mount quest either tonight or tomorrow, so I'll know for sure then. I'll let you know.

Just as an update - I have just completed the quest for the class mount, and was able to purchase this from the stable master at Trueshot Lodge.

Not sure if this matters but on my main hunter who did all this before 8.0 I can still buy the tome on him to send to any other hunter who may need it.

Yep, then it's indeed the class mount quest as a requirement like the monk/death knight pets.

Makes sense too since they're meant to require the same as the class mount recolors.

That's great news! So what does the class mount quest require these days? I've already done it on all my toons so it's hard to test out. Is it identical, except you no longer need the Power Ascended requirement? So, do you still need to have completed Pathfinder?

Also.. it appear you can now buy it (and the other wolfhawk colours) in ANY spec.

Yay I think I'm missing one this is amazing.

Spec requirements seem to have been removed from all the alternative order hall class mounts - or at least all that I checked - so buy away

I've tweeted about it. I've also updated and tweeted from Warcraft Mounts, since you no longer need to be in a certain spec to buy the alt mount colours.
