I thought that only rare NPCs retain their names after tame. However now we have Ji-kun and a few other bosses doing the same. Anyone has other experiences of non-rare NPCs (elite, uniquely named quest mob etc) retaining their names after tame?

I don't have a definitive list, but a number of tameable bosses do. Horridon and Thok (I think?) and the three quilen of Iron Qon. And the new OOX rocket chicken in Mechagon isn't flagged rare but retains its name.

Irewing also keeps its name.

Both Blaithe and Rukhran keep their names. I tamed Magmadar in Molten Core but he didn't keep his name. Luckily you can still name him Magmadar.
I am wondering which bosses keep their name and which ones doesn't. If we're putting together a list, I'll be happy to contribute.

I tried Thok yesterday and it does not retain its name . The quilens of Iron Qon all do. So are Faultline (clefthoof) and Dreadwing (chimaera) of Darmac in Blackrock Foundary.

The river beasts in nazmir, “Riverbeast” also retain their names

I would also be happy to help finding out and making a list.

I'd like to flag every beast in our database that retains its name. Also find out which don't that should.

I included continent/zone sorting if it helps tracking them down efficiently.

That page is built from a database. As soon as I flag a pet as retaining its name it'll disappear from the list.

I’m mostly on top of Shadowlands stuff for now (at least until the next build) so I’ve started slowly going through zones and checking everything on the list to see if they retain their names after taming. But it’s a huge list and it’s going to take a very long time. If anyone wants to pick some zones and check them out I’d be super grateful

To explain: the list has three sections for things to check: rares (almost all of these are going to keep their names), bosses and normals that have special names (most of these probably haven’t been flagged but we need to check). So if you’re checking a zone you will probably find things in at least two sections on that page. Maybe I should merge those sections for easier checking

Also, anything that has been confirmed to retain its name will be missing from the list, so everything on the list except for names with ** next to them haven’t been checked yet. Things with ** have been confirmed to not keep their names, so they get to stay on the list till they’re fixed (assuming they will be).

When we get a substantial number checked I’ll start adding that info to pet notes, and add a search function for beasts that retain their names.

Btw Blackshell the Impenetrable and Lost Gilnean Wardog are untamable in german because the names are to long in german. When the castbar ends nothing happens.
