Pre-Patch Taming Routes

So, I did a thing while playing on beta after getting my invite. I actually wrote down my path of when I tamed each creature I wanted, in order of when I tamed them. I thought to myself "Surely I could improve this order when the expansion launches", since I did kind of go out of my way to grab stuff. Then, when I hit the leveling wall at 57, I decided to go back to non-Shadowlands content and go on a taming spree. I spent...way too much time doing this, but I ended up writing a list of steps to take on pre-patch to tame everything I want.

Code: Select all

Kill Nythendra in Emerald Nightmare before pre-patch.
Log out in Invasion Point: Bonich before pre-patch.
Log in during pre-patch.
Refresh raid lockout for Emerald Nightmare.
Tame Ephemeral Runner in Invasion Point: Bonich.
Use Dalaran Hearthstone, fly to Val'sharah and enter Emerald Nightmare.
Tame Nightmother (and Venomous Spiderling if it's fixed).
Exit Emerald Nightmare, fly to Suramar and enter The Nighthold.
Tame Skorpyron (if it's fixed).
Exit The Nighthold, fly to Stormheim.
Enter Helheim through Haustvald, tame Guarm.
Use Dalaran Hearthstone, take portal to Stormwind.
Take portal to Pandaria.
Fly to The Arboretum in The Jade Forest.
Purchase "How to School Your Serpent".
Fly to The Veiled Stair, enter Terrace of Eternal Spring.
Tame Tsulong.
Exit Terrace of Eternal Spring, fly to terrace above Siege of Orgrimmar.
Enter Raid finder version of Siege of Orgrimmar's last wing, tame Kovok (If it's fixed).
Start the battle against the Paragons of the Klaxxi, ensure that you get injected.
Kill Rik'kal the Dissector while injected, wait for Amber Parasite to spawn.
Tame Amber Parasite (If fixed).
Kill or feign death, then leave the instance.
Enter Raid Finder version of Mogu'shan Vaults' last wing.
Tame Elegon, then leave the instance.
Return to the Shrine of Seven Stars, teleport to Stormwind.
Take portal to Dalaran (Crystalsong Forest)
Fly to Sholazar Basin.
Tame Longneck Grazer (Brown variant).
Use Dalaran Hearthstone, teleport to Stormwind, take portal to Boralus.
Take boat to Zuldazar, enter THE MOTHERLODE!
Sneak past first boss, tame Shalebiter (If it's fixed).
Die, exit THE MOTHERLODE!
Take flight back to Boralus.
Take flight to Drustvar, enter Waycrest Manor on Normal mode.
If the path towards Raal is not open, exit and reset instance until it is open.
Tame Gorestained Piglet.
I clearly have too much free time, but let's make it fun; go over the pets you think you'll want to tame that are coming in pre-patch, make a list, and post it in code format (as to not make huge walls of text). Let's see what you aim to tame!

This is the way I’m going to do it on prepatch
-Go to cloud serpent area night before prepatch
-buy book when prepatch is up
-go tame crimson firestorm on timeless isle
-go tame a green python in the same zone
-go back to org, go grab a barrens giraffe
-go to sholazar basin, tame a black mammoth
-go to hellheim, tame Fenri
-go to azsuna, tame leystone gyreworm
-go to vol’dun, tame a red alpaca
-go towards tortollan area, tame green toad
-go to Waycrest manor, tame gorestained piglet
-go back to org, then head to stonetalon to tame dark brown ram
-go to shadowfang keep, tame felsteed
-go to townlong to tame a red kunchong
For my forsaken Sv hunter
-go to Highmountain and tame Skeletal Misthound
-go to ICC and tame a abomination hound
-go to wetlands and tame a white bone raptor
-go to tanaris and tame an unearthed fossil
-go to netherstorm and tame skeletal stallion(if it gets tame flag)
-And best of all, enjoy them all with eyes of the beast after you tame your beasts, this does have a lot of “go tos” but those are my plans as prepatch releases before I do the ICC questline, and I can’t code format so I apologize

Since I sadly won't be able to tame undead pets on prepatch day, my list is fairly small, and not all of them will be staying, but I am looking forward to giving them a try! Here's my route for my planned tames. :D Oh, if we do end up being able to tame the crystal scorpids, I want the purple one! It's just not looking optimistic right now.

Nazmir
  • dark python
  • purple demon spider
Drustvar (Waycrest Manor)
  • cursed black pig
Stormheim (Helheim)
  • grey helhound
Kun-Lai Summit (Shado-Pan Monastery)
  • heavenly onyx cloud serpent
Uldum
  • purple aqir goliath

I have one planned tame after the patch.

It's being kept secret cause it will be incredibly amazing if I pull it off. Lol. But I doubt I will. :C

Also, I'll tame a pig cause I want one named Bacon.

I have a list in my head but this is a good idea. I should write it all down!

I don't know if I can make a route, there's like a hundred look available pre-patch I wanna tame. I just made a folder of my planned stable and I still had to make cuts. >.<

I'm only ever going to use Pit Beast, Krush, and Elegon while the rest rot in the stables, but still!

My priority is Elegon though. Are we sure Pandaren Hunters have it automatically unlocked like the site says? Mine didn't when I made a fresh one on Beta for Zhao-ren, had to fly my main (also Pandaren and unable to tame Cloud Serpents) over to Cloud Serpent Rep Vendor to learn the tome. It was some builds back though.

Any reason for the taming of a Rufous Zhevra? Does something happen to it after the patch that makes it worthy of special attention now?

No, I'm just silly :) I only have a few slots left until the pre-patch, so going ahead and getting a stag that will become a courser seems fun. I'm using the rest of my empty slots this week to try to tame some of the currently available rares I'm interested in.

Thanks for responding @GormanGhaste - I was making sure I wasn't missing out on a potential glitch pet :D

FYI to those who want to tame Elegon: Raid Finder version is tamable if you don't want to miss a chance at the mount he drops for a week.
