Wondering if there's a consolidated list somewhere around here of the different books one may obtain to tame different families.

On Petopia's front page below the main list of pet families, there is a group called Skilled Pet Families. Click on the links, and a link to wowhead's page for each tome is included on the pet family page.

Hmm. Okay, let me widen that... all taming books, whether they unlock families or just looks within other families.

There isn't one consolidated page at the moment, but that's a good idea. On the search page, there's a "Requires Skill" filter that will allow you to filter for specific tomes, and some other special tricks that don't require tomes, but only one at a time.
