Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
A few more dungeon NPCs are tameable. I posted them here, and I'll update the first post as well.

All the components are separate models, which are attached to the base model at some point during creation. However this procedure is done, it doesn't seem to use the spell kit component of creatureDisplayInfo. As a result, the display info isn't saved to the pet.
I just realized that these extra pieces are literally left behind on the floor after taming too. The scorpion still looks decent if you don't notice the tail, but I really hope they can think of a way to fix these for hunter pets because I absolutely love their colours.

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say those spare parts look like a spiky gemstone rabbit.

Did someone ask for SQUAAAWK!? Because you now have SQUAAAWK! What is this goofy bird's name in other languages, I wonder...

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
Not gonna overload images since these are old skins and models, but the following now keep their names:
Guardian of the Deep
Ghamoo-Ra
Pahboo-Ra
EDIT:
Guardian of Sacrifice
Cobalt Guardian
Jade Guardian
JasperGuardian
Sadly, Amethyst Guardian is the only one of the Stone Guard that does not retain its name.

Lmao, that’s funny, but it’s a good way to see it’s components, anyway hoping they’d fix the run animation

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
So I'm obviously checking if names are kept now that I found SQUAAAWK!, and I found one that really makes no sense; Soul Fragment. Other rare-spawned minions don't keep their names, so this one stands out quite a bit. He also kiled Rasthe right after being tamed, so I can't check that for now. Thanks, Soul Fragment! This will have to do unless The Prophet Tharon'ja is tameable again, but I'll check that later. Now, I'm off to check other spawned enemies because I'm curious now.

I will not admit to how many timed I died trying to discover this. Wild Onyx Serpent now retains its name when tamed.

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
God I hope so. Like I said in an earlier post somewhere, all creatures should keep their name, and the first rename no matter what should be free. It's probably a coding nightmare since there's over 6000 tameable beasts, but still!

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
So, it's seemingly impossible to solo tame an Angered Arakkoa Protector. At least for me, because no matter how many dumb bird people I hit with the foam sword, none will summon it. Can someone else try to tame this and see if it keeps its name?

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
Oloh keeps its name now. Not really special since you can just type it, but if for some reason you REALLY want this specific wolf, it now keeps its name.
Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
Suggestion for Parrot-in-Training in Freehold (uninstanced) to keep its name. It does not currently do so on the 9.1 PTR and live, of course.
Kunchong for hunter pets!
Thanks to Moonlost for the awesome avatar!

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
So, uh. Ji-kun got huge for some reason. That's an intimidating bird now. Had an odd thought to check the adds that spawn during the Ji-kun fight, but none of them were tameable. No real reason other than to see if something changed, but still.

Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
Ji-Kun was always big, but not that big, I don’t think there would be a reason to make those adds tameable since we can just tame them in Talador, Bastion, and ArdenwealdWerebearGuy wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 2:54 pm So, uh. Re: Chains of Domination PTR is up!
It's 99.9% unlikely, but the Baubleworm Battle Pets introduced in this patch would be the *perfect* addition to the Worm Family.
Yes, they're meant as battle pets, but they scale up wonderfully. Here's the Amethyst Baubleworm with a Pet Treat, as an example:
I imagine if somehow they were ever made pets, the Amethyst Worm wouldn't be tameable, as I imagine they want to keep that skin unique for people who spent 10,000 Pet Charms to buy it. (Or make it so you need the pet out to make the Baubleworm Hostile and tameable)

Their resolution may be a little low (though no worse than some others), but they would make gorgeous worm pets, yeah

I've added Ohgan (and all potential saddled raptor colours) to the database:
(click)
As far as I can tell you have to wait (ages!) for him to kill every spirit around the room before he can be tamed. Before then he's too occupied to be aggroed. If there's another trick to it please let me know
