Why am I so frustrated with this! Very frustrated!

I'm fairly new to city/trade chat and I was informed that revealing and defending I was a girl IRL is considered being an Attention whore... I dunno why, but it pisses me off! I know I probably asked for it while taking a poll for facebook of the "girls are good at WoW" in Dalaran, in Trade chat asking "If you are a girl, raise your hand"...I got some very....rude... responses and whispers.

There are people on Youtube that are girls that post up a vlog of them being a WoW girl and saying "we exsist" and in the comment, people are all "QQ" and "Attention whore"...Just...

Why does this make me soooooooooooo mad? Why? Being a proud WoW girl and other girls like me proving even girls can rule at WoW is frowned down is just....gah... I feel like making an All-girl guild to spite...but that would make everything worse. My boyfriend doesn't see why it bothers me so much, but of course he's one of the ones with only 3 male characters and 7 female characters...

Because a large group of players that actually chat in the trade channels are adolescent boys (or are still living in that mindset 20 years later) who have nothing better to do than make stupid comments and start **** with people. Many of them are the same players that spam trade chat themselves with fart jokes, sexual jokes/innuendos, and whatever controversial comments they can in order to be attention whores themselves. The rest are just cynical people that think you're either out to get attention, free stuff, or both.

Regardless, this is what I have to say to you: You don't *have* to defend yourself to these people. It's hardly worth the time and energy to argue with morons, and if you think about it, they are being highly stupid in that they are alienating themselves from the type of girls they stand the most chance with. The only ones that really count in this game are your real life friends, online friends, and guild mates. Outside of them, who really cares what they think?

Weird. I've never had any problem like that before, nor have I heard of anything like that before. I don't see what's so bad about being a woman/girl that plays WoW. We aren't exactly a minority, anyway. The only reason I could think of being called an "Attention Whore" is because adolescent males would often jump to talk to someone that has two X chromosomes that also plays video games. Again, consider that female gamers are still considered a rare breed. And like Sigrah said, there are abundant amounts of idiots ans trolls lurking on trade/general chats. Some women also use their gender to take advantages, such as getting free items and money, in-game or real, so unfortunately they also give out a bad name.

Otherwise, I have no clue. Like I've said, I haven't heard of any problems like this. Most of the time it's complaints how they sometimes get random people coming up to them and saying "Wnt 2 cyber plz".

I has a girl myself don't say i am one unless its will mates and i certanly don't do it on trade your just asking for it if you do. But there are people out there who do say there a chick to get attention, free stuff, or both.

Those girls on youtube who do those"we exist" vlogs are 90% of the time there for attention as why would you do that in the first place if you did not want people posting those comments ya kno?

Many of the people who write stupid things in trade like "lol girls don't play wow" and so on are doing so to specifically get a rise out of them. Just ignore those who are ignorant and the game is much more enjoyable. As a wow girl myself, who plays a male char and yes...his outfit matches and on occasion he is shirtless in bunny ears I don't mind that guys play with girl chars. But when they start posting ignorant or hurtful things in trade I ignore and report them adding fuel to their fire is what they live for. Not giving them the attention is usually the best course of action. And remember its your game you pay for it, enjoy iy how you want dont let morons bother you

I tend to keep my comments to myself in Trade. I spent too much time getting shit in Halo for being a girl and I learned REAL quick you don't let on you're a girl unless you want trouble. Sexist comments, things it's rude to bring up to your friends let alone strangers and being harassed in game. All it does is paint a big target right between your eyes to even hint you might be a girl.

It's crap to have to deal with it, but there isn't much you can do when no one will enforce the freakin' harassment rules.

but i DO think it's lame when girls try to openly say that they're a girl

i don't think you have anything to be frustrated with in trade though.

it's trade. it's full of stupid morons.
you're better off leaving it completely or getting that addon that filters out anything except legit trade 'chat'

one thing to remember is that trade chat has become worse then Barrens chat ever was. there are more idots, n00bs, and kids that want everthing handed to them easy sauce. Frankly I think it's pathetic and has lowered the value of the game experience. I personally think it was much better in Vanilla.

my server is balls though.

i've only met about 2 girls from different servers who were really genuinely good at playing their class, though not hunter.

it's not that i don't believe they exist, i just have yet to meet them ;c
that's another reason why guys bitch in trade about girls though;
