Just saw a video of the plains preview, the mysterious things we called dogs or cats are in fact dogs or wolves, i saw the lupine sniffing animation during the video

Re: Beta 10.0 Beast Thread
Keep in mind while trying to categorise these things we have lizard cats, in the lizard section And lizard bears in the scalehide section.
And as far as we know, they could be their own family all together. So unless it's directly something like the mammoth it's all up in the air.

The hooved beasts with the nose horns and moose antlers are called bruffalons according to Jackie Wiley on Twitter.

They’re going to make a fine edition to oxen, i love how they use the skeleton of the tauralus, but they are competition in which oxen will be better, but this one reminds me of a shoveltusk, but it doesn’t have a old man face

I’m loving all of these creatures!!!
This gives me a very ice age vibe…gives me hope that one day they’ll add a Thylocine, giant sloth and some type of kangaroos…

Re: Beta 10.0 Beast Thread
At least We finally got ducks now, I hope they end up in carrion birds, some species feed on carrion in real life, and birds of prey got too many looks
Re: Beta 10.0 Beast Thread
They’re dogs. One of the devs, I think Jackie, or maybe Sarah, confirmed it on Twitter.

Finally, something a little more standard for the hound family, most of the hounds are demonic or wild, we have mastiffs and the new dogs, with armor but a bit more normal than a majority of the family, but the dogs don’t excite me as much as the ducks

Also reminds me of the shoveltusks, but they also remind me of the rhinos from borean tundra, but at least the new oxen don’t have that ugliness the shoveltusk has, you look at its face, it looks like an old man

Re: Beta 10.0 Beast Thread
I wish the shoveltusks got expanded upon. I feel like they're severely underrated for how interesting they are. It's like if a moose, boar, and bison were all set on incredibly questionable and very likely illegal breeding programs, and that was the end result. They're genuinely unique, and they don't get any love. I don't know if anyone else actually likes them, but I do. Doubt we'll get new versions since the bruffalons are their own tier of hardcore beast (and they sure as hell look awesome), but a man can dream.

Most of dragon isles creatures are like northrend in my opinion, but there’s a lot of differences, of course more dragons and warmer climates, and my favorite bird, ducks, Eagle is cool, but we never had ducks

Re: Beta 10.0 Beast Thread
That makes sense. Matches the description pretty closely.
Re: Beta 10.0 Beast Thread
According to Sarah Cotner, the new 'dragon toads' are called "Hornswogs".
Also, from the screenshots in the press kit, it looks like there are wild versions of the new "greatwyrm" mount model:
As the mount flavour text indicates that they're basically giant manawyrms, they should hopefully be tameable as such.
I don't have Alpha access yet, but I'm keeping an eye on my client, just in case!

OMG Hornswogs look so cute! I'm in love <3 I do wish we can roll as Drakthyr Hunter in 10.N, because that dragon toad would be the most fav pet on my Drakthyr Hunter <3 I do hope they are actually Scalehides because of the ears and also so that it would be a useful pet if they are Ferocity.
