Hugs for the Phantom

((Warning! This may contain spoilers to books/movies/games.))
I recently watched the 2004 movie version of Phantom of the Opera, after having my friend yap on and on and on about it for weeks. I don't know what I was expecting, besides to be angry at "the guy" and to feel really bad for "the phantom".
Getting really angry at "the guy" is an understatement. I really wanted to smack Raoul many times during the movie (or maybe just Punjab him. Eh? Eh?). Christine was similar - she could be sweet, or completely heartless and horrible. /backhand her too.
Feeling really bad for "the phantom" is the understatement of the century. Good gods, give that man a hug. Nothing good ever happens to him, and he still somehow remains the most amazing character throughout. (Maybe its the mask and the swishy cape)
So, after thinking about the story, I started to wonder if anyone else ever feels the urge to jump into a story, be it movie, book or videogame, and give the characters a piece of your mind. For instance, here's my to-do list:
-Hug Erik. (The Phantom)
-Smack Christine.
-Punjab Raoul.
-Kick Eragon in the face.
-Backhand Varian, simultaneously kicking Garrosh in the ribs.
-Hug Erik again.
-Shake some sense into Anakin.
-That having failed to do anything, give Vader a pat on the back.
Anyone else have a similar to-do list in mind? (And please give Erik a hug. He needs a hug.)
