Petopia is now on Bluesky. Find us at :

https://wowpetopia.bsky.social

I'll no longer be posting on Twitter. Bluesky is growing very quickly and a lot of WoW content accounts are there now.

I don't understand why so many people left Twitter, only to go to a clone of Twitter. It's your choice of course, and I won't say it's wrong because that's not for me to say, but why move over there? Why not use both? I hope this isn't related to that goofy AI training scare.

I switched because Twitter has become a toxic hellscape and Bluesky is a lot more pleasant to use, but also I didn't have the energy to maintain four accounts (2 platforms x 2 websites) for much longer.

There's been a mass-migration to Bluesky recently - really, the spike in newcomers and followers in the past few weeks has been phenomenal- and I think it's now reached a critical mass where it's not going to be a temporary thing. Pretty much every WoW creator (and official channel) that I follow is now active there, so it's also working for me.

I was always sceptical of the idea of switching to an alternative social media platform for that reason, and indeed none of them proved to be viable. But Bluesky looks like it may have been in the right place at the right time. It's still early days and that could change, but it's so far looking really good.

I would recommend that you do not delete the Xwitter account, since after 30 days, anyone else can claim @wowpetopia and do bad things while they have it.

I mean, you can delete the posts, lock them and not post, but don't delete it.

This is exactly what happened to a few Artists I know.
Do not delete anything. People have been awful with grabbing names from popular places and using it to say/do awful things.

Thanks! That's actually precisely why I ended up not deleting my accounts :)

I was going to do a bulk delete of posts and turn the accounts into dummy accounts but it turns out it's difficult to do that now without paying a 3rd party money and granting them access to your account.

Eh. I checked out Bluesky and found it to be the same crap with less polish. The moment I signed up, my feed was already flooded by politics and moaning about Dragon Age Veilguard (what a total blunder that one was lol), even more so than my twitter's feed. As for toxicity, that's such a non-issue that it's funny to me. Again, I won't tell you what to do and not do since that is objectively not for me to decide, but what was wrong with just ignoring the trite and filth? Mean words from literal nobodies carry as much weight as air in space, if not less. Either way, I made an account on budget twitter and followed the Petopia account. Now I just need to remember to check it from time to time since it's not part of my usual daily routune lol.

EDIT: I went to check Bluesky right after posting, and I already had some idiot stirring up some drama with because I said I made an account just to follow artists who migrated. Gave him a fun response before muting his account.
