Well I mean the Curious Fish talked to us pretty clearly in Hallowfall lol! Then again, I think he still counted as a Beast on tracking instead of Aberration, so there is that.

my head canon is that anything that isn't supposed to be sentient is actually controlled by a void old god hive mind like how the Aqiris were once, and now we can tame them.

To be fair, old school raptors were already implied to be sapient (they wear clothing in the form of little bracelets), so I guess we technically have been able to tame a primitive culture since classic.
