WoW Petopia Community

I don’t know if this is a bug or me being dumb. I am trying to get gmod, but can’t get past Jadefire Masters. I kill them, and I think the gate is supposed to drop so I can go up the stairs and proceed. It doesn’t though, and when I finally hearth out, I get a Grong has been defeated message when I zone into the inn. It doesn’t matter what toon I play, or what difficulty, this happens. What is happening?

Possible stupid question: Are you actually defeating them, or has one of them ported over behind the shield you have to use orbs to disable if you don't kill them before it goes up?
