With 2025 concluding in just a short while across the globe, I figured I'd throw this out there just for fun since the forum is pretty much in a lull until Midnight slaps us awake. With The War Within, we've had a lot to do. From playing with rocks and spiders to wrap battles with space mummies, there's been quite a bit to do. Of course, the most noteworthy thing was the selection of tameable beasts, because clearly we don't play the game for the story, lore, or gameplay; what kind of weirdo plays a game for that? 2025 is coming to a close really soon for the whole world. Asian countries are about to say goodbye, European countries have a few hours, and the Americas have a whole day left. What better way to end the year by looking back at the pets we've tamed? Of course, we've all probably tamed a dozen things since the start of the year, and there's many more things to come in Midnight. Let's keep it simple; what are your top pets of the year? What did you tame at the end of The War Within, be it old or new content? What stood out the most to you? What creatures from The War Within do you wish were flagged that sadly didn't make the cut? Let's hear your stories!

For me, the bomb crabs of Undermine were my favorite new model. Crabs deserved something, and boy was Undermine in general something. I fell in love with the bomb crabs the moment I saw them, and was overjoyed when they were confirmed tameable. The default color cloud serpents finally being made available was also a huge surprise, as we've all wanted those for quite some time. At the start of the expansion, we had a cute baby salamander and a burrowing worm that were sadly stolen from those of us who got them, and I miss my salamander so much. My biggest letdown in regards to tameable mobs is that Razormanes WERE made available on the 11.2 PTR for a brief time, but were ultimately cut for seemingly no reason. Likewise, the stone sheep not being tameable is a sin I will always remember, especially since we can tame a robot sheep already. Blizzard, loosen up and let us grab a wider range of things!

So far world of Warcraft has been kind of solid with 2025 with new systems and the long awaited addition to switch pet specs. To be honest most of the war within pets were hardly useable anywhere in max level content. Before tww was released I was excited to have the spiders and swarmers only not to use them at all. All the coolest models added like the shalehorns and wyverns were basically useless in all content, when razorwings were being flagged tameable for the brief moment on 11.2 ptr my excitement for the patch was over the roof, when they hotfixed them, my excitement went from 80 to close to 0. I loved the cool additions of the reindeer and the windsteeds but unfortunately they are useless. One pet I started using very frequently in tww was the purple ice bear since it was rare and amazing in delves. I am also happy to have achieved the blazefeather peacock and use it in raiding since it’s rare. Can’t forget the high ranked tameables of Grong and fetid devourer, I now use fetid in m+ and raiding which is gr8, I love Grong but prefer my bears and tauralus. 2026 is already going to be huge and better because of the additions in midnight. My additions from TWW have been Lyfang the Lost, the radioactive rat from Undermine, and the small spiky slug from Spiderland.

And my biggest disappointment from the expansion, as mentioned above, has been the Razorwings.

The tame that I love the most this year was going back and taming the pink cloud serpent. I always wanted it but whenever I would go back to try the area was too populated. Tried during one of the big updates and was able to snag her.

New models-I would say the fluffy lynx was my favorite, though the rats were pretty neat.

I'm looking forward to the Grey & White Striped Grimlynx from Midnight-played around a bit with him in beta and love him. Both him and the Greater Red-Yellow Dragonhawk will likely be my mains in Midnight for a good while.

Biggest regret is that I still have not been able to tame Nah'qi. And I am still low key pissed at Blizzard for giving it such a BS tame requirement.

There are so many great tames to look back on!

Top of my list (by far) are the new windsteeds!

The Blazing Peacocks were pretty special, even though I felt that the price meant some hunters were excluded (at least till they had time to save a huge pile of gold).



I really loved the brown & white, Tudor-style warlynxes.

Undermine offered so many great tames! The silvery hyena with purple steampunk armour was my fave, and the rats were beautiful. The bomb crabs has so many fun colours it was really hard to choose.

Finally, I can't leave out Karkinus.... what a brilliantly insane look!

I reposted the above images because the originals weren't loading. I'm still not sure what's going on with that but I'm starting to wonder if there's an occasional issue with how they're indexed when they're first uploaded. As soon as I deleted my posts and created new ones with freshly-uploaded copies of the images, they work.

I still don't see them myself. I can click on them and then they open up in their own separate screen, but they aren't initially appearing on their own.

when you first posted I could only see the wind steeds in the first post; now I don't see any of them they aren't clickable for me either

Ah bugger They're all loading for me now. When they didn't, I could see javascript errors in the browser console, which I hope will help diagnosing what's going on.

None of the images load for me either, unless I manually right click the text and hit Reload Image.

This is a fun thread idea! I went back and looked over my favourites from last year and ended up with a personal 'Top 5':

1) Undercrawler - absolutely love that they put amblypygi in the game! such a cool model 2) Mudskipper - they're just so derpy and endearing it's hard not to love them (that run animation lmao) 3) Armored Hyena - I can't get enough of the awesome spiked armor and goggles of these guys, they were such an aesthetic hit. 4) Phase-Lost Crawg - I already adore crawgs so a sparkly cosmic one was too fun to pass up, I love these guys so much. 5) Cosmic Worm - slightly makes up for the loss of the upcoming special-mention, these guys are pretty awesome. SPECIAL MENTION goes to the briefly tameable worms that were sadly taken away from us. I still miss them.
