WSG Question

Can someone explain to me what happened... I'm in horde war room and grabbed their flag. I'm a paladin.. Race through room and up ramp. Druid behind after me. I put on devine shield and hand of freedom. Next thing I know, the flag is gone from me and said it is returned. Does a druid have something that can strip me of the flag? This has happened to me once before in another game and I was a hunter. I could not tell you who was after me that time.

How did I lose the flag?

It's one of those spells you are using that causes you to drop the flag.

Divine shield must have done it. I don't remember all of the exact shield names, but the invulnerability ones make you drop the flag, as does hopping on a mount. You can use the 50% damage reduction shield and hand of freedom and whatnot, but bubbles are generally a no-no.

That must be it.. Divine shield. It is 100% damage protection (was thinking it was 50% damage) so it must make me drop the flag. I must have been the paly the other time too.

I knew that mounting does it, and so does night elf stealth. Now I just need to add Shield to it as well.

Feign Death drops the flag, as does Deterrance. I'm pretty sure Disperse for SPriests drops it too.

-blinks- Deterrance makes you drop the flag? I don't remember that. I know that my Nitro Boots stupidly do. =|

It might not, I hardly ever PvP, but I remember losing the flag while doing my "escape-macro", and it was before FD. Disengage doesn't drop the flag, so that wasn't it. Could very well be the rocketboots then.

Most likely Rocket Boots. I remember using my own 'escape' macro which is Deterrence + Rocket Boots. Found out the hard way the boots make you drop it.

Mounting up, stealth, paladin shields, all cause you to drop the flag. It's pretty funny when someone doesn't realize this.

I was playing on a rogue not too long ago, waiting for the guy who grabbed my side's flag. He comes out of the tunnel, I head towards him to take him out, and then, poof, he mounts up, rides off, leaving the flag behind. Easiest return ever! :p

(would it be wrong of me to mention he was a blood elf? :p)

Shapeshifting is okay though, right? I've always worried about taking the flag cause I'm worried if I shapeshift I'll lose the flag. >.<

Shapeshifting is okay, that's why druids are popular flagcarriers, travelform is the closest a carrier will get to a mount.

The hunters aspect of cheetah is not quite as fast as the other 2 - druid travel form and shaman ghost wolf. Bad thing for hunters though is the slow when hit. I really don't care to take the flag as a hunter because of that.

To me.. the Druid is the best flag carrier as the shapeshifting breaks alot of the freeze or trap spells and they can shift instantly. Shaman is second with the wolf form, but there is some casting time to shift, and I'm not sure if they can also break spells when they shift.

Hunters do best by protecting Flag Carrier...PewPewPew.

It doesn't break anything when they shift. But they do have the earthbind totem, which is even better as an elemental shaman, since with a certain talent, it gives it a roof effect.

Confirming that deterrence does NOT drop the flag. It was definitely divine shield in this case.

(Why would you need to DS AND freedom? O_o)

Freedom keeps me from being trapped for 6 seconds (I think 6) and I cast so that I can keep going instead of being stopped by entanglement. Not sure if it is the smart thing to do. It does not seem to break traps after they are set. It just seems to keep from any new being cast.

But DS breaks everything anyway, which is my point. >_>
