But a quick rundown:

Humans get a wolf
Worgen get a mastiff
Dwarves get a bear
NEs get a white tiger skinned saber cat
Draini get a moth

Orcs get a boar
Goblins get a crab
Tauren get a tall strider
Undead get a bat
Trolls get a raptor
Bloodelves get a dragonhawk

Meh..I was kinda hoping the Tauren would get a mountain lion and the orcs a scorpion to start off with.

and it looks, from that video, that the Strider is the blue plumaged that lives off an island in Terrokar. That or a new purple variation.

Of course if one doesn't like the default, there are plenty of alternatives.

Wow...this is awesome...That cat that Night elves will get is usually only getable at around 50ish, so that's definately a change...same with the strider for Tauren, the pretty purple one from Terokkar!!

Also..MASTIFFS? Ohmagod...seriously?! Ummm holy heck. I can't wait to see what's up with all that. <3

The moth is also one that's only available in Outlands. For now, anyway.

I did!!! I'm going to seriously have to restrain myself! Either that, or find a new realm for a horde of hunters, one of each race! LOL!!

*Panics* I hope the white tigers can be found and tamed by other races! I dun want to play a night elf. Not my favorite race. :-/

It's definitely the purple strider and it's the only choice Blizzard made that I don't like (assuming that the tiger will be made available elsewhere).

The purple is just TOO COOL to be a common starter pet. Even if you don't give Tauren the brown one, at least make it the white...

hey Kalliope there is nothing wrong with the white one i've had mine since lvl 10 and shes by far the rarest skin on my server now well for those birds anyhow XD.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with the white one.

I said the white or brown model would have been more appropriate for a cow starter pet than the purple. I *THINK* the white model is the least common in Mulgore out of the three. The brown and gray seemed to be more populous.

Either way, all three of those are better choices than the purple. >_<

Yes but we don't know how the lowbie hunter gets their pet. We do know it's not a true companion and at lv 10 it disappears. We do know we are unable to interact with it like a true pet. So what's to say that the tallstrider, infact all of the pets, aren't really owned by another hunter and loaned to you, to helo you get from lv 1-10?

Besides it doesn't really take it away from me, I still love the skin. Mean on my main server only THREE hunters use tall striders [Mazz, Clutchmother and Torranche respectively], this might bring more appreciation to the whole breed, not just a single skin.

I'm just grumpy because I *love* the purple skin, but hardly EVER see anyone with it. So I may yet tame one for Kalli......maybe.

That is EXACTLY my point. It's too cool a skin to see EVERYWHERE.

It's like seeing legions of Loques or ghost sabers....

In the PTR last time I checked, you got a free Skoll for premade hunters :p


But anyways it's lv 1-10 cows and I doubt there's gonna be that many cow hunters being made, unless it's a new server. But tbh I think our real concern should be that nice shiny riding tiger model..

And the fact there were 2 more STD cat skins like our purple STD cat Gondria, and I've seen a lovely orange and pure white riding riger model outside of Gadgetzan in Tanaris for the ally mounts stabled there... So I'm hoping that is a sign that those 4 lovelies will be released.

And the PTR is different; you can't create a premade character on a real server.

thats true us cow hunters are a rare breed and i'm sure in cata theres not going to be that many new ones. Theres going to be a surge of worgen and goblin ones thats for sure.

Yes! Yes yes yes! I want an orange riding tiger model pet. OMG, I would drool on my keyboard every day. (RL orange tiger lover, even have one as a tattoo) Since I can't get the Zulian Tiger mount, that would be the next best thing and my dream come true. Sure, there are orange tigers in the game, but they don't have that powerful look that the riding tigers do.

Yeah, I'm guessing for the first two weeks they'll be a surge in goblin and worgen hunters as people try to get the First to reach 80 achievement,if the achievement will still exist in Cata, and then the number will taper off with those who can't get used to using focus and even more once they have to slog through the Outlands grind.
