How we treat our pets

How do you treat your pets? How do you feel about how others treat their pets?
I know it bothers me to see pets with lewd, insulting names or to see people do stuff like make their pets fall to their deaths with eyes of the beast. To me, that pet is an integral part of my character. I even treat temp pets with a little respect. I know they aren't really real...but they are the idea of animals and I think it says something about a person, how they treat them. Do you feel a connection to your pets? Do you try to save them or give em a fighting chance?

I always do! I cant stand seeing hunters disrespect their pets or with nameless pets that are just there...because they are there. When it comes right down to it any hunter of any spec or any race can do this. Its really sad imo I always try to save my pet and always briefly mourn them when they die even though, I know they can come back. I try to never let Faust die hes my baby <3

I say, for the most part, as I speak for all of us that cares for our pets both ingame and in real life, all animals should be treated with respect. They are just as special as we are, maybe even more special, and we should not ever take advantage of them just because we are smarter than them and have guns. People that torture animals should not even own them. It's all just common sense. I'd love to see a moment when there are nothing but people out there that would always care for their animals and never treat them as tools.
In World of Warcraft, that's just as important as it is in real life.

I treat my pet with Mammoth treats

Also I know what u mean I have had 1 pet sence well........forever, hes the 1st Devilsaur I ever tamed and the only one,
Old Blue he looks like Skorn, hes the one thing everybody recognizes about my hunter, he is what makes my hunter, her

I cant stand hunters with pet names like "Bait" or "Imanoying". I love all my pets, I even have my healer friends heal them in raids when their not healing players.

I love mine as well, I'm constantly emoting things to them like /cuddle and /hug and /love and all that. I'll stop dps'ing to toss a mend pet on them if I think it will save them, and I always put a lot of thought into their names, to try to think of something that fits them perfectly.
And yeah, it does bother me when people give them lewd or dumb names (Imwithstupid, while probably true, doesn't make a good pet name IMO), or don't name them at all.

At least a pet not having a name at all is better than a pet with a horrible name. In cases like those, Cat, Hyena, and Wolf for example because that's what they really are sound more respectful than the examples for bad names you guys gave.

It's funny when you see a raptor named Cat.

I admit for the longest time, several years in fact, I desperately wanted to tame the Strider Clutchmother and name her Porkchop. Not to insult her or anything, but just because I thought it was adorable and fit a tallstrider's silly personality. But then when I tamed her, I just couldn't give her that name. She needed something better.

(But I still think Porkchop would make a cute tallstrider name

)

I hate it when hunters use their pets as tools. My character is one of the only ones on my server who actually names her pets. Most pets I see are named Gnomeeater and Attackme
Bah, pvp servers.
I love my pets so much. I think people see me as a kind of 'crazy cat lady' on my server. xD

Nonsense! We all know that Boar is a better name!
K like my pets, but I usually concentrate too much on my hunter. I can't keep them alive, even when I try. At least I name them as fast as I can, and usually with real names.

I baby my pets. All of them. Sure I sometimes given them silly names as jokes, but I only really keep serious pets. I tend to get annoyed when I see a pet, especially a rare pet, that has a rather ridiculous name. >_> Like that Ghost Wolf that was named KILLUNOOB. I died a bit inside.
Who knew I could have a such a low for pixels!

That's a totally awesome name for a wolf.

Sometimes, when I'm raiding or heroic-ing and the tank has died, and I've feigned death... and I realize my pet is still up and fighting... I will jump back up.
Either to try and dismiss him before re-feigning, if there's time to run and hide, or to try and save him via pettanking or distracting shot, or to just fight to the death.
I know it's silly, sometimes it costs the group that few seconds before the release knowing it's a wipe, sometimes it just incurs a spirit run and a repair bill. But I have trouble sometimes just letting the pet die alone while I'm laid out in a corner somewhere watching. Guilty feelings suck
I also try and avoid feeding a bear bear meat, or a wolf wolf meat, for example. Again, silly I know, but there's still that feeling of "Oh I'm not THAT evil." I try and keep it happy and well-fed, and alive, and I emote at it. Sometimes too much. >.>

Eh...
I love my pets. I had only -one- pet that never got a name, and it was cursed har'koa kitty. But he I couldn't give him a name, Cat seemed the most appropriate name ever for him. Naming him something else would be wrong. I loved Cat. Time passed, and I felt guilty, and named him. But it was wrong, and I had to abandon the kitty, because he wasn't Cat anymore. So if I got another one on the same hunter, he'll have to stay as Cat, I'm sorry.
Beyond that, I name all of my pets. When I had to let Midnight, my hunter's first pet that really stuck with her, go, I cried. >.> I felt guilty when I let Echo (Gondria) got for Krush, even emoted a whole conversation in game of letting her go.
I do give my Temppets funny and strange names though, I admit.

Yeah, silly, I know, but I don't want to leave it all on it's own! In an instance, I try to exercise some sense, but out questing I have gotten killed so many times trying to save my pet!
It makes me kinda sad when other hunters just let their pets stay dead or kill them deliberately.

I've taken to naming them after the beast family of the beast that they are temping for. Or Kelly, for Kelly Services, a temp agency.

Hey! I totally named a crab CRABBATTLE once for laughs. He was a pvp pet. =P
I love my pets. I always joke I'm Hahadori's pet. She does all the work and takes all the praise.
I dislike hunters that just go out and tame the highest level version of whatever beast family is OP at the moment, not taming, for a current example, which wolf skin they like and level that up. I've gotten so many hunter apps with a Cavedweller Worg as their only pet.
