If we want those 20 extra pets, are we still going to have to level them up?
Because even after they "sped it up" and started making pets jump to your level -5 after you tame them, etc., I still find the process to be excruciatingly slow and grind-ish.
I'm assuming we will.
Edit: I hate doing dungeons.

Just run a few randoms with the new pet. They level fairly quickly that way. But, yes, having the pet jump to your level would be great. Hopefully we won't go back to leveling them all the way again.

Yup, I'm assuming we will. Honestly it's a price I'm willing to pay just to have all of my pets again.

A few random dungeons in a row will top them off usually, and plenty of pets you have will (I assume) be for sentimental reasons rather than real performance.

Is it just me,or does ANYONE remember the days of finding that one pet you really had your heart set on,and you were 50 and the pet was 15,and you had to level him up to match your level? Now that was fun! (In a masochistic kind of way...lol)
So now the pet levels to within 5 levels of you and suddenly,it's a chore?! I'm with Veph on this,if you really want to level your pets,you will,and your sentimental pets will languish in the stables.
Oh.and before someone says "well,warlock pets level to their masters level"....WE'RE NOT WARLOCKS! Warlocks rip their demons from the Nethervoid to serve them as tools,they don't give a rat's tushie about them at all. We love our pets because their our companions,friends...they've been to hell and back with us,killed he horde/alliance with us,ate with us...and that bond is not something to be taken lightly. Demon pets? One dies,rip another one from the void...yawn...and so on...
Please!
I know I sound all bitchy and stuff,but it irks me(just a little) to see hunters complaining about something that is,IMHO,so trivial in the first place.

Ah yes, i remember the "good old days", getting a pet you love and leveling it up to your level then having to stable it so you could tame another to learn bite 5 or claw 3 or something, then teaching that to your own pet...
and people think they have it tough these days

I practically had Petopia open all the time, looking for the next petskill and where to find it!
Todays hunters have it so easy now...

Firewing Point in Terokkar was my go-to place for pet leveling. Those casters were great and the signets sold well.
It's true Kara, the big hassle was to tame-learn-teach over and over. >_<

Nope. We used to have to level them ALL THE WAY. Getting them just five levels is easy in comparison.

This.
Five levels is NOTHING. Before the leveling change, you'd hardly EVER see hunters go out and tame skins of lowbie creatures because the leveling was too much of a hassle. It just wasn't safe bringing lowbie pets into dungeons; they'd have to sit by your side.

Think of how annoying it is to roll a DK and level professions fom a skill of ZERO. It was worse than that. At least you don't have to worry about keeping a DKs mining skill alive. lol (Best analogy I can come up with)

Its easy to forget what a chore it was, dont forget pets got a fraction of the xp they get from you now and you had to lvl it froms mobs that would give you xp in your range, so if your 60 theres no running thru deadmines 50 times, it didnt work, it was lvl 55+ mobs up and with a bm spec and a lvl 15 pet, that took a fair while.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I've been playing since before they made the change. And yes, 5 levels is much easier by comparison.
It's still a chore, though.

I was gonna say, I read oedura's comment as "it always was a chore" (rather than "it was always automatically leveling to 5 levels below us"), which is something I think we can all agree with.
There are a lot of people that act like the new system is more of a chore - perhaps because they
know Blizz could simply decide to let pets level to our level... but won't.
