I know there were a lot of people that hated it, for various reasons. I personally LOVE that movie. A movie to me doesn't have to be 110% original (probably pretty hard to be original these days without being stupid anyway) or whatever. As long as it has a story I enjoy and characters I like, then I like it. I so wish I could have one of those flying thingies (ikran, I think?)!!!

Yep, the movie gets a 10/10 from me. :D

I do agree with you on the evolution thing. Thats what nature does it tryes out things but if they don't work in that place those ones die out and a more evolved form that's better suited to that place shows up(best example i can find is us humans there was SO many differnt types of us but our type came out the winner). It would be the same on another world and i would not be shocked if it really did happen. Thats what has happend all thru earths history the best life and the not that well suited die out. That show Primeval did the future evolution thing and they did it right imo as they did some bloody research before they made theirs.

I would not say avatar was as epic as peopel say it was es it was pretty but i found the story lacking and was basicly pocahontas with mechs and thats what it was basicly i'm not bashing it but i do hate the huge fans of the movie who state that its not that when it really is, ya know what i mean?

Alot of people hate on it. Some people cause they say it makes the Marines look bad, and some religion groups hate on it because it
glorifies wicken religion. But in truth its a pretty cool movie.

Redith, did you mean Wiccan?

I saw the move shortly after it first hit theaters here, and I like it alot. True it's a very old story, but it was redone in a very good way. The graphics are top notch, and the perspective from which they told that story is unique.

I loved the effects even though I thought the storyline itself was abit weak ..
either way .. it was a good movie

I'm confused now. Is this about the one Veph is talking about, or the Sci-Fi one...?

It was the human bigotry, greed and pigheadedness. It was when they killed the home tree....bulldozers and fire in the jungle make me want to cry...think of the millions of animals, the plants, the things we will never know that are gone now. Whether that's an imaginary rainforest or what's left of our own.
I felt the same way Teigan. That was the part that really grabbed me. And you know what, I don't care if that sort of message has been done before, because in my opinion it's an important message that we shouldn't forget. I grew up with movies like Fern Gully, and cartoons like Captain Planet and the Smoggies. There was such a strong environmentalist movement when I was a kid that I think stuck with a lot of people from my generation. I'm sad to see it's not around as much anymore, so that's one reason I really enjoyed this movie.

Aye, felt the same way.
Also, seeing helicopters shoot giant bird-lizard-thingies doesn't hurt.

EXACTLY how I feel. Any movie that shows humans and their destructive nature, and rubs it in our nose, is a good story to me. Especially the part where Jake tells Eywa (probably spelled that wrong) to look into Grace's memory, and see that humans destroyed their Mother a long time ago...that part really struck me. It's so true. :( The Earth may not be a heaping ruin yet, but it's on the road.

So yeah, originality/etc. aren't what I always look for in a movie. As long as it tells a good story and I like the characters, it's a good movie to me; no matter how many times the story's been told. Besides, people watch re-makes of movies all the time and that's ok?

I, too, grew up with Captain Planet and Fern Gully (love that movie) and all that. So this was like a grown-up version of the things that always spoke to me as a child. <3
