Sentimental Pets?

I'm one of the few hunters I know who hasn't filled all my stable slots. Part of the reason is not being able to play WoW, and part of the reason is that I simply cannot imagine hunting without my favorite pet.

I tamed my prairie wolf alpha at level 10, after learning the hard way that you cannot tame ghost howl. 70 levels later, and I'm still hunting with that pet. Through all the years where you had to have a cat for dps, and all the people telling me there were better pets, I never switched. True, I may have dabbled in other types of pets for a short while, but I found I just couldn't do my hunter thing without my trusty wolf.

The pet gained sentimental value when my friend and guildmate passed away; he'd also been a tauren hunter with an identical wolf. We used to go to nagrand and have our wolves round up mobs and then kill them. Our characters were almost twins.

So, you guys have an pets with extreme sentimental value?

First one was the Corrupted Bloodtalon Scythemaw that wanders around the river near Orgg. I loved that little guy :D. I kept him all the way till I got to LvL 34 and Desolace...and found my new favorite Giggler :D

Timber from Dun Morogh. He was my very first pet on my very first toon, my dwarf huntress Teigan. :D
Tamed him by myself at lvl 10, without even a temp pet to help kill off his pack. It was more ignorance than bravery, but I got him on my first try. I managed to pick off a few of his pack before he attacked me, then I just started taming. I was nearly dead when the tame finished. I'll never forget the golden glow...he wheeled around and pulled the pack off me and saved me. I had no idea why he had the silver dragon around his picture and no idea there were in fact other worgs in the wide world of Azeroth (Ok, I thought the whole world looked like Dun Morogh...game manuals are for the weak! lol). I just knew he was special and had a name and had to be mine. He's back in my stables now, to stay. His name is Tannok, now though. :)

I have a very emotional bond to my raptor, Rafa. I don't even know why, there was nothing particular about the tame and I grabbed him at 80 out of h DKT. I just totally clicked with him, and when I abandoned him to tame Clutchmother (in case she disappears in Cata) it was with heavy heart. Rafa's coming back as soon as I can retame him.

I have honestly tamed every single rare spawn in the game, and every other kind of beastie I could find, including the ones in dungeons and from boss spawns, And the only one I ever really fell in love with was my worgen.
So hard to find that "one" pet for me atm. I have "The Beast" "Loque'nahak, King Krush, Mist Howler and Aotona, I even have the corehound pup, Hyacinth Macaw and the Hatchling from ungoro so my "pets" have thier own "pets"
But alas I never seem to find my one little buddy that I just have to keep. ./sigh -Unknowne/Elune

Echeyakee is mine. I spent hours sitting at his spot thinking he was a rare spawn. It was only after waiting and waiting that I decided to try to find more info on him, and discovered that he's a quest spawn. So, my brother created a horde character to help me out. I was waiting for him to arrive, and an undead showed up. Naturally I thought it was my brother. The undead summoned Echeyakee, and I waited to make sure it was my brother. The guy emoted at me (can't remember now whether it was a /cheer or a /wave), so I took the hint and tamed Echeyakee. Come to find out, it was not my brother, just some random nice guy. :D I kept Tetsusaiga from level 20-something all the way to 80, and released him to grab some other rares. I miss him, and he'll be the first one I get back when we get our bigger stables.

But what makes him more than just a "first pet" love is that my brother and I quested together all the time on our two hunters. We did everything from take on devilsaurs on our own (which at the time was freaking scary), ran instances and smartly controlled our pets (which for me, being a noob, was a big deal :D). I got compliments on him because he was hardly ever seen on an alliance character. Me, Tetsusaiga, my brother, and his pet were a team through thick and thin for a long time. It's an experience I'll probably never get back, since I've been playing this game so long now. But still, the memories are fond. :)

Snort. I know, shocker right! He's been with me from level 17 (I'd swear it was 16 back in the day). Since my first taming him I've been bonded to him more then ANY other pet. He will never leave my side. From 17 to 80 he's only left my side once and that was in error. Never again.

I ran my first hunter all the way to Dun Morogh to tame Timber, too. It was her first pet; she was level 10.

A Night Elf.

BEFORE YOU COULD TAKE A BOAT.

Yes, I ran there. I don't remember how, but I remember it being a loooooooooooooooong run. It's the only pet she ever used. She still has that wolf, Stormwraith, on another realm--she's unused, but the wolf is still remembered with love!

Oh, the Wetlands run. *sigh* It was such a rite of passage. Makes me sad that newer players won't ever get to experience that.

Even though I got him at lv70...my sentimental pet is my devilsaur, Casavir. I couldn't imagine not having that big black rex following me around and biting things ^_^

Mine is Takk on my main, Jolyroger. Tamed him when Joly was 23, and still have him today. Many times when Grandmaster Gandling in Scholomance would teleport the group to the locked rooms, Takk would keep attacking, and in 2 instances Takk actually killed Gandling as we got out of our rooms. He is the Uber Raptor. That is why all my Hunters, except my Draeni, have Takk. My Draeni has Goreclaw the Ravenous.

Timber. I've had my white warg since level eleven. I did the wetlands run back in early 2005, and I've had him/her ever since.

A second emotional attachment is my cat Kiera. I have no idea why, I tamed her on a whim, and fell in love. One of the cats in Blades Edge Mountains.

Well first off, mine, spirit beast wise is skoll because he's blue & looks very lively & is for a loved one who passed away last year; whos' favorite color is blue, & he was very optimistic even though he was going through such a hard time.

Second is Précieux either black or diseased wolf; though she'll most likely evolve to diseased again, & because I now own Precious' Ribbon, so Precious & her Ribbon 'best in show'; I forked out 1.5k to the winner to pass but major SQUEE! over it ^^

Third is Yoshi; 19hrs later & a guildie helping I got em' several months ago, though now that I think of it I never really played Super Mario Brothers, so it's kinda funny he's still named Yoshi, though I may rename him Reptar again, ah the good ol' memories of Rugrats...

The others, Fleck Loque, & Slimey, all nostalgia...

For me it's got to be Midnight,my panther. Tamed at 30, he stuck with me until 57, where I found and tamed Rak'shiri. Rak and I went through the Dark Portal, leveled, etc, until 63/64 came and looked at Midnight in my stables...And realized it was time to let him go back to the forests. I released him in Terrokar, my favorite Outlands zone.

Current pets have to be Moonlight, my Rak'shiri. Tamed him, and then got to 60, released him for a black owl, then realized I wanted Rak back. Back to Winterspring, and through a hunter's aid, got him again.

Iorek is also a favorite. I love my armored puppy. I got him with the help of a rogue and druid friend of mine who was in the same RP guild as I was. Ironically was my druid's IC worst enemies, they had captured and messed with poor in game Azu kitty's head...He was with me when I leveled First Aid, and he was my dungeon pet.

Now it's Bayne. I love him, because of all the effort I put into him, all the money and struggle. The feeling I got when I tamed him was amazing.

I have to say that level 10 to 23 was difficult, I could never find a pet that just fit my side and I would trust at my back. First the bear, then the carrion bird but when I got to twenty-three I finally saw something that made me change my mind. I happened to be flying to Ratchet when I saw something on the bluff above Ratchet....Humar. I immediatly let go of my bird and tamed him. I was inseperable with him, my favorite all the way and one of my friends remarked that he had gotten bigger since I had tamed him at 23, I said that I hadn't noticed since we are always together. I named him Azrael. It was just me and him for awhile till level 42 when I first saw Snarler, the black wolf I had never seen before called to me and I set down and tamed him. I named him Abaddon, and those two have stuck it out with me in some pretty sticky situations I gotta tell ya. Those two have stayed with me and now rest comfortably at level 80, soon to be 85.

Well, Hahadori the Strider Clutchmother, of course. =P

But a sentimental pet I don't have anymore? Probably Sakki, a Dread Ripper (blue vulture). He was my other pet at 60 when we only had three stable slots and I do miss him. I'll be getting him back when Cata hits.

On my old, retired hunter, the one pet that gave me the most profound feelings for it would be my orange cat from Mulgore. Once I named him Diego (after the saber in Ice Age) and eventually he was really good at attacking mobs with me, I felt the everlasting bond that lasted until I had to delete my hunter after a hack attack. To be honest, though, I had no idea back then cats had the best dps; I only got him simply because I love cats. Even my best friend at the time loved my pet's name better than another of our friend's orange cat that he got not too long ago after that. I didn't care a bit there were other hunters having the same kitty; in fact, I once encouraged a bit a' bragging when me and Diego were at levels in the mid-60's and I was watching two lowbie hunters with an orange cat. I was just comparing size. :P
