Looking for story ideas

Hey people.
When I saw Saturos comic-style signatures, I thought about making a WoW-related comic.
Since Saturos way of creating this special look is very time-consuming and complex, I started to fool around with photoshop and came up with this:
Looks pretty nifty, I think.
Now, while I try to figure out how to create some cool backgrounds, I thought I might ask you for story ideas. Don't worry about complex stories. This should be something like a brainstorming area, so post whatever comes to mind.
I was thinking about a hunter as main character (I wonder why?

) but nothing is set in stone yet.
So, off you go, people!
IDEAS!

The only drawing I've done that was timeconsuming was the one in my signature, so I don't know why you said that. It's not complex either. :P
Your drawings are cool. Did you do any colours yourself, or just the linework?
As for ideas... I'm clueless.

Honestly, Saturo?
It's just one filter and an outline effect, that's all.
I guess thats easy enough when making a comic.
And no, I can't tell which filter I used as my version of PS is in german.
Back to topic:
I thought about a young blood elf hunter as the main character. Maybe because I do like Karathyriels backstory so much, with having a strict father who wouldn't allow his son to spend his days alongside some dirty animal and ending up being a tauren warriors blood brother and an honored member of the tauren tribe. Leaving his own people behind and become a member of another culture because he understands their ways better.
But, like I said, this is about brainstorming.

Sounds like a neat idea, having a story about one of Kara's adventures.
Go ahead and say the name of it, I'm good enough at reading German to understand. I can't talk or write it tough. :P
I thought it looked a bit like a filter, but I know how people react when you say something like "You're just using a filter!". I've had that said about some of mine. It looks really good, anyway, and for a comic, with quite a bit of art, it might take too long to draw everything.

It looks pretty damned amazing.
I hate to be cliche, but if a blood elf hunter speaks to you, then write it. That's how I ended up with a gnome rogue and a human hunter in my contest entry.

(A hunter of any race would probably have worked for me, but my bf is going human hunter in Cata, so yeah...)
Definitely gonna throw a tallstrider out there as a potential pet, though. xD At least if your hunter goes amongst the Tauren...

@ Saturo:
It's called "Tontrennung & Kantenbetonung".
Hope that helps.
@ Kalliope:
I wouldn't say a blood elf hunter speaks to me. But it would be a story that I had in the drawer for years.
But still, I'll wait for peoples ideas as I have to figure out how to make backgrounds anyway.
@ everyone else:
So, give me everything you've got!
- character ideas
- plot ideas
- little funny jokes
Maybe you want your own character make a little cameo? Right now, this project is open to everything.

This sounds like it'd be lots of fun!
If you want, Aela could make a cameo. C;
For story ideas, maybe you could include your character camping a rare spawn. Not something like Loque or Skoll, maybe something like Mazz. He could have a really frustrating experience.
Bah, I dunno, I'm not feeling creative.

Thats so awesome! You should do one of Varian killing Garrosh.
Hmm maybe your main char needs to come across a role model, a kind of father figure. A great hunter! In my opinion there is no greater hunter than Rexxar.

Well, let's look at what you've got - a blood elf has quite a long journey ahead of them in order to get to any other race's settlements, so regardless of who takes him in, you have a great setup for a journey story.

OK, now I have a problem...
The Map Viewer only shows instances.
No cities.
No outdoors.
With my account cancelled, how am I gonna get backgrounds?
Hmmm...

Now, that is QFT!

I think you can load environments in modelviewer, I've never tried tough.

I could give you some models, though I think they wouldn't match what you have at the moment.
As for your story, it could be about Kara trying to find a pet that fits him, but not suceeding until the end. So like, he could try every pet type in the game until he finds a cat, and tames him. Or it could be about war, with all the different races fighting, and at the end it turns out to be a TV program and two male gnomes are watching it with Kara :p.

I'd imagine he's looking for acceptance someplace, as he doesn't fit with his people (and probably not the animals of the area either).
Seems like the heart of the story to me, anyway.

I do not like Garrosh very much.
But I dislike Varian even more, so it's not gonna happen!
Bulletdance wrote:Hmm maybe your main char needs to come across a role model, a kind of father figure. A great hunter!
The backstory of Karathyriel is more like leaving the blood elves and stumbling about Azeroth before Regash (Tauren warriror, my first toon ever!) picks him up, feeds him and his companion Gerethay back to full health and then let him have some training from his tribes hunters.
Bulletdance wrote:In my opinion there is no greater hunter than Rexxar.
You'll get no argument about that from me. But I don't think I should have "the big guys" of Azeroth in the story. I want to keep it like low profile and basic.
Saturo wrote:I think you can load environments in modelviewer, I've never tried tough.
As far as I know, you can load some models that are used outdoors bot not the region itself. Guess I have to think about something else. Maybe I'll try to contact some guys that are deep in machinimas.
Bubbleme wrote:I could give you some models, though I think they wouldn't match what you have at the moment.
Those above are just examples. My Tauren warrior Regash, Karathyriel & Gerethay, two gnome pirates and a female troll rogue, where I had the pirates and the rogue just put together in the MV for fun and for looks.

That wouldn't work for Kara as he has always been with Gerethay. The first other pet I ever used was Logrim, the wolf, when I started raiding on level 80.
But that sure is an idea to be used with another toon.

I think the serious machinemakers use a sandbox client, and set up cameratracks.
You could always try just the sandbox client, shouldn't be any problem to set that up.

Since I am no serious machinima maker, could you try and explain WTF a "sandbox client" is and how I set one up?

It's basically a client that can start and load properly without a server. No mobs tough, just the map. It's a kind of diagnostic, I believe. I'm a bit unsure of how to get one running tough.

looks preatty nice for ideas.....
you can do one about a hunter and his pet maybe somehat like this
the pet an the hunter, the hunter and his pet, all alone wanted by thier own kind. wanted dead by those not of his own kind. yet he didn't do anything it was merely a mistake in person and he's alone, only with his pet wanted by all...
then maybe you can add characters that do know he's wanted, find out but don't care and i know it sounds a little cruel but kill them off later for something emotional.
heh i'll probably post better storyline/comic idea's later.
