It's unclear if all the functionality for the bigger stables is in build 12479 or not -- the beta servers are so unstable right now that beta testers say staying in-game for more than 30 seconds or so is impossible.

But the UI is there, anyway.

You open the stable from a Stable Master NPC like always. There are 5 slots -- the active pets -- down the left-hand side of the UI and 10 slots under the picture of the currently selected pet. There are two pages on the bottom, for a total of 20 inactive slots.



Right now you can drag the pets anywhere within any of the slots. Hopefully that stays that way -- it would be handy for organizing your inactive pets.



Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to use Call Pet to get at any but the first active pet right now.

Oh ... and note that these pictures were taken by a level 10 hunter. At the moment, at least, there does not seem to be a cost for the expanded stable.

oh that looks like a nice easy way to manage pets! Active pets neatly laid out to the left and the two page's of ten slots, much like how our vanity pets and mounts are laid out. Nice big viewer to show off are pets of pure awsomness! I am loving the look of this new feature.

I wonder if they will cost anything when Cata goes live...I really hope not. After spending 150 Gold on the last slot I don't even want to know how much 20 is going to cost. But with the active pets [5] plus the stabled [20] that means that we get a full 25 pets right?

Isn't the top active pet your actual active pet?

No, it's 25, I would assume the active slots are you're Active/out n about pet plus the 4 in the stable.

I like the look of this so very much. <3 I really think Blizz is doing a great job on improving our UI for Cata. Oh, and TWENTY(five)(or is it-six?)(I don't even care at this point, I'm busy being giddy)(eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)(*bounces up and down*)(ok ok, I'm calm now.)

Do you still have to level your pets, or do they match to your level when you tame?

I read somewhere that they'll be 3 levels below you in Cata.

I hope this goes live before cataclysm I want my gold worm and I'm not willing to give up Gondria unless I have to.

So let me see if I understand this. Your five active pets are the ones you can Call? And the 'inactive' ones are ones you've tamed, but can't immediately access without visiting a stable master?

Well either way...interesting to see so many stable slots available! I don't think I'll end up using them all (twenty is SO MANY!) but it's nice to see I'll be able to experiment more without giving up my close friends

One of the nice things with the 25 slots is you can have multiple pets of the same family. There looks like there will be room to do this.

There is one thing I don't recall seeing an answer for that I've been wondering about. Ok, so five active pets that are "with" you at all times, presumably summoned by a Call Stabled Pet or similar ability. However, I haven't heard if this will still be a lvl 80 ability or not. Will hunters below 80 still need the stablemaster to swap out even their 5 designated active pets?

Ooh, the interface is exactly what I was hoping they'd do with it! ^^ Looks awesome. I was actually pondering on the cost of stable slots yesterday and wondering if they might end up free. Seems hopeful.

I'm also curious about the Call Stabled Pet ability Teigan. Whenever I'm playing one of my lowbie hunters I'm constantly aggravated that I can't swap out my pets wherever I am and have to travel back to town. It's such a useful ability, and I would hope they lower the level requirement on it since it would come in so much handy while levelling.

Particularly when using the dungeon finder! I hate zoning in with a tenacity pet, but I don't have much choice if I was far from town when the dungeon popped...
