Worgen/Goblin starter zones - Confirmation?

I've suspected for a long time that the goblin and worgen starter zones would be akin to the DK starter zone, in that they'd be phased and instanced. Meaning that a higher level character couldn't take a jaunt over to do the quests and steal a couple pets.
Can anyone confirm if this is the case?

I know that the Goblin starter zone is for sure phased. No one else will be able to visit Kezan or the crazy streetways.

Not sure about Worgen, but I'd assume possibly the same.

Lost isles =/= Kezan.
You can go to the Lost Isles, but not to Kezan. They are different islands. :)

Worgen area is phased as well. Then again, there's not exactly a lot of vendors over that way last I looked. (got to test out the Worgen area on a friend's beta account for a few hours).
Heck. I don't even remember you getting starting zone reputation for goblin/worgen factions.

Well, not surprised. Still a bit disappointing, though.

Kezan goes boom anyways. XD Both zones are heavily phased. Very well actually. Although you don't seem to be able to go to any major city as you don't join your faction till you're about level 12. =3 But the quests look fun.

Both zones are heavily phased, as was/is/will be the DK starting area.
The following links are a walk-thru to the individual zones done by The Cynical Brit.

the goblin areas are in their own phasing instance, no non-goblin will ever see them which is a shame.
Gilneas does exist in the world and is a phased DK-style area that changes some of it's geography post cataclysm. last I was there as an 80 Orc, there were no npcs, jsut the discarded leftovers of the Gilnean finale. that might change in the future

Does this mean the monkeys are not going to accessible to any non-goblin or goblin who has done the starter area already?

There are monkeys in STV as well.

there aren't any unique beasts to be tamed in the goblin area, however, I should note that the raptors on the island have the same name yet many colors, so that could be indicative of a random color outland-style raptor.
i can't confirm just yet as my goblin was a shaman, but I can make another soon, anything for another shot at that place
The pacing of that zone though was such that they expected you to hit 10 after the raptors were unavailible. I hit ten before a segment jump, trained a bunch of fire totem spells, but the quest explaining fire totem was waiting in the next section.
Also there wasn't a stable master at all, so whatever you tame, plan on keeping until you arrive in Durotar

On live servers it is possible to summon a DK out of the phased zone (in my case, into the hellfire instances) long before the quest chains are complete. He had no hearth stone, few of the skills, only about 6 talent points and had not yet learned death gate. My gnome DK was however treated as a member of the Alliance by the guards at Thrallmar. I was able to use another party member's death gate to get back into the phased zone and continue where I'd left off.
Try summoning a partly trained worgen or goblin using either warlock summons or a dungeon stone. It may well break your character substantialy if you cant get back... but hey, its beta!

I was thinking about this today. I remember from the Burning Crusade beta that a number of color-changers ended up being replaced with new art -- they were placeholders, so there was no point setting their color, I guess.
Anyway, I was wondering if the same might be true of the spikey Outland raptors on the Lost Isles ... but no, their name is clearly 'Spiny Raptor' and the quests refer to them that way, so obviously that are supposed to be spikey raptors.
... unless, of course, spiny raptors != spikey raptors. Spiny raptors, in fact, might look like this:
(Image borrowed from
WoW Wiki.)
I mean, that is what Blizzard has identified as a spiny raptor ...
I know it's been talked about before. I just hadn't caught the significance of the raptors' name before.

Makes sense to me!
It's good to see everything all in one place too, with the big picture put together.
The whole "Lost Isle dinosaurs" thing is a good confirmation as well.

The "fuzz" is feathers. Birds descended from dinosaurs, you know.
